TITLE: Prologue
Scripture: Job 2:1 - 13
God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:
→ Here we are back to Job's life, what a true testament of one's loyalty and faithfulness to God, Job was. After losing everything he owned, everything external that belongs to him, the devil was not yet finished. This chapter begins with another day that the angels came to present themselves before the Lord and of course, Satan was there as well. So we see here that despite Satan has already fallen, and tried to rule the world against the Lord, he still reports to God and is mandated to come before his Lord. I'm sure Satan don't want to meet the Lord at this time, knowing that he failed in his first attempt to inflict Job. He lost the battle and didn't want to face God in this losing state, but of course, he didnt have a choice, which shows clearly God's authority and power over everyone and everything, whether those that are for Him or against Him. God's Glory and Power is truly magnificent and no one had or could destroy it, not even Satan, who was the cunning of all creation and proud enough to pick a fight with the King Himself!
This also showed me God's openess and greatness! Imagine, having to face your enemy, most of us don't want to even want to think such thought. Yet God is in control and disciplined enough to hold take His rightful stand in the face of His enemy. Now that's power, that's glory, that's greatness! God is not bothered with being in one place with His enemy because He knows that He is beyond the level of His mortal enemy. We can learn from this. I mean, we seek to be imitators of Christ of our Lord and if God portrays such magnificence in the midst of His enemy, we ought to strive to do the same. My point is, we should not allow the presence of our enemies to impact us tremendously that we are not able to do what we are supposed to do!
Despite of Satan's attitude at this meeting, what i mean is, if we look at how Satan replied to God, we can see that Satan was argumentative! He was defensive and his words challenged God's trust and God's decision to stand by Job. Despite of all Satan's accusations, the Lord remained in control and disciplined and replied in complete confidence and surity of His decision to stand by His son Job. Amazing! Thank You Lord for standing by us no matter what!
Now, Satan did not waste any time, the moment he got God's approval, he went directly to Job and afflicted him with painful sores. Job's wife was getting angry at God and became instrumental in giving more affliction to Job's soul. But Job once again proved to be faithful to God than what he possessed or even his own life.
Note that Satan started inflicting Job from his possession then his body. So it is easier to lose what we possess because we can always gain it back; It is easier for man to even lose his life for the sake of God because it is a noble act. But let us see the last few verses in this chapter, we find 3 of Job's friends, Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar. The three friends (closest to Job) who came and saw Job's status and felt pity on him. This I believe made the huge impact on JOb but we will know more tomorrow when we study chapter 3.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for an amazing story and revelation today! I am amazed of seeing Your control, discipline and greatness in the midst of all Your creations including Your mortal enemy, Satan. Lord help me to have and show the same control, discipline and power when I have to face my own enemy, whether it is another man, sickness, lack, etc. May I show control, discipline, and power and not panic, like I normally do. Help me Lord to see that Satan can take away my possessions, can ruin my body and even break my soul but I can remain blameless and rigtheous in my Faith in You! in Jesus' Name, Amen!
