TITLE: Job

Scripture:  Job 7:1 - 21

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ At this chapter, Job continued to speak and clearly, his words showed no hope for man in general anymore.  The first few verses revealed that there is nothing for man than death and Job is stating that man will eventually have to accept that in his life.  He did not do anything wrong as he did not act anything on his negative thoughts or words yet but his thoughts and words are deeply leaning towards the end of him.  It’s as if Job accepted his condition and the truth that death is soon coming for him.  However I love how he shifted from verse 11, when he said that he will not keep silent.  He embraced the truth that man will soon die; that man will go through sufferings on earth; that this is the cycle of life; but he did not want to go down to the end of his life quiting or giving up.  So his mouth will speak and he will complain and will tell God of the anguish of his spirit.  Then Job continued by saying that he despised his life and that his days have no meaning yet he knew that man is valuable to God and so he sought for answers from Him.  He didn’t want to die without a fight of what he truly deserve!  He asked God to show him his sins and asked God, why he became his target?  Now here we see that Job knew the truth but somehow his situation or condition has confused him of who God is.  At verse 17, he asked God what is man that He makes so much of them, that He gave so much attention to them but in verse 20, Job assumed that God brought the affliction to his life and Job ended up questioning if he has become a burden to the Lord now.  Look at the words of Job at the end, he said, “...You will search for me, but I will be no more.”  Amazing how Job knew that God sought for him.  Clearly, Job and the Lord had an intimate relationship that Job is 100% sure that God will seek for him.  This only means that during his lifetime, God has been seeking for him, the same way that he sought for God and they found each other.  Now that’s the last words of Job, clearly, his words are leaning towards the dark but even at the end of his words, he had a flicker, just a spark of hope knowing that God sees him of value so he again seeks for God to show him his sins.  Many times, we try to find the logic and reasons behind what happens to us and when we do not find it, we resent God.  Similarly, Job felt the same way.  And though, he did not act sinfully despite of his conditions, his words and thoughts are resenting the fact that he is in this kind of situation without understanding why.  To most of us, “why” is the most important question as it governs direction and passion.  But let it be that despite of an “unanswered why?” in our lives, we remain faithful to God and seek His peace that passes understanding.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus marvelous King and Amazing Father.  Thank You becuase You are in control of everything.  I know Lord that trusting and having faith in You is done easily when things are great and good in our lives.  However Lord, I pray that I will be found faithful no matter what my circumstances are.  I pray that You give me patience and peace in me that no matter what is happening in my life, whether good or bad, I will remain faithful and strong in You.  Lord give me this intimacy or close feeling and knowledge with You that no matter what happens I feel and know that You are near even if things show otherwise.  Help me to be strong in You and teach me to hold on to You firmly despite of whatever situations we have.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
