TITLE: Job
Scripture: Job 13:1 - 28
God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:
→ Job’s words in this chapter were spoken with frustrations. At the start of the chapter, he kept on insisting that he knew everything what they are telling him. And this time, he was demanding them to listen. This scenario is pretty familiar to many people. We speak of such conviction and demand for others to listen when we ourselves are tired of listening to them for we feel that they are not listening to us. Job was at the point in his life when he felt that his friends were not listening to him and so he doesn’t want to listen to them anymore. His friends say one truth and though it is the truth it was not appropriate in the sense because Job already knew this truth but needed compassion and kindness instead of accusations or rubbing this truth (which does not apply in his case) onto his face. Sometimes we tend to be like Job, we rub a certain fact or truth to someone else’s face to either show them that we’re right or to tell them “I told you so”. And so we end up creating an argument or we pick up a fight. So we ought to be considerate and do not see others stupids or idiots for more likely, they already know the truth so telling them makes them repel from you instead of be driven to do what is right (this is true in some if not in most cases but not all). Most of the time, people need to SEE instead of HEAR what they need to do because they already know it, they just need to SEE the reason to do it.
In Job’s case on the other hand, his words were coming across with great resentment, injustice, and bitterness at this point. He was coming across proud for he fought for what he believe in about himself but not about what he believes in God. He was so focused of himself being right that he forgot who God truly is and he allowed his conditions or sufferings to distort or redefined (not in a good way) his knowledge of who God really is. This is pride, injustice and resentment speaking and human as we are, we do the same when in a similar situation. The good news is, this book of Job shows us our true nature as humans so we know how to allow the Lord to take control of our thoughts, minds and hearts to act and deal with similar situations differently. But first we ought to make that choice!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, amazing God and wonderful Father. I am so grateful for an awesome revelation once again. Lord thank You because You showed how I, as human, must not act or behave whether as a friend who gives advice or the one who is experiencing the sufferings. Lord keep me in line with Your will at all times that I may show others what they need to do instead of just tell them what to do. Help me Lord to listen to others that they may listen to me too. Give me an understanding and pure heart for these people Lord because my true nature does not and it only cares for my self. Help me Lord to be humble and not repeat the same mistakes as his friends and Job. In Jesus’s Name, Amen!
