Title: Psalm 120 – A Pilgrim Song
Scripture: Psalm 120-:1 – 7
God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
→ Here is an author frustrated from
all the liars around him. The author
spoke of liars who smile so sweetly yet lie through their teeth. Now, we have people who lie for a living but
I think when the author spoke of liars, he also included those who really
didn't have such bad intentions but still lies.
Example, someone who said that he will meet you tomorrow and then end up
saying, I'm sorry I was so busy and I forgot.
So people who are not true to their words and after it happened, they
still managed to smile back at you as if they haven't wasted your time or
effort for a promise that they didn't meet.
I think you get what I mean. So
these does not include professional liars but also regular people who seems to
be lying naturally without any full bad intention against the person they are
lying to. In verses 3-4, the author
somehow asked in a "challenging way" the liars if they know the
future. So these could also mean people
who thinks they know it all, not literally those who prophecy, but those who are
logical and analytical who can think ahead..they openly speaks as if what they
said is the truth when they really don't know what's going to happy in the
future...all they do is predict it based on facts they have. So there are a lot of different liars in
short... but overall if you became a victim of one of them, the answer is found
in verse 1, "I'm in trouble, I cry to God, desperate for an answer" -
if you have become confuse of their lies or you're becoming one yourself...the
solution is to cry out to God!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for showing
me the way out of trouble from lying lips.
Help me Lord to always remember that when I become a victim or I become
a liar myself, my only response should be is too call upon You! Help me Lord to implement this in my life
that I may always find myself side by side of the truth. As You live in me and I stays in You, let my
life reflect nothing but the truth that comes from You. In Jesus' Name, Amen!
