Title: Psalm 119 - Yodh
Scripture: Psalm 119:73 – 80

God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
Today's words are very powerful and strong.  So hold on tight because the words today from the Lord will strike reality to its core and the truth can literally hurt.  Yodh got the wisdom that most of us cannot understand.  He is privilege to have known this and we are privilege to be learning it today.  He started by confirming a fact - that he is a creation of God.  God is the person who formed him so he sought God understanding to learn His commands.  Clearly, this shows us that without God's understanding, we will be clueless and ignorant of the commands of the Lord.  Not in the sense that we don't know it because we haven't heard it but in the sense that we've heard it yet we truly do not understand it!  That's why the Lord's understanding is a must to obey His commands!
Next he spoke of him as an ambassador of hope.  He long to bring joy to others for one reason only, because his hope is in God's words.  He wants to represent hope and happiness to others simply because he hopes in God's spoken truth and nothing else.  Not because he is an encourager, or because he can speak very well. But simply because he hopes in God's words.  This could mean that his presence alone brings hope and joy even without the specific task of lifting someone up.  May our presence become a joy and hope to others too because God's words is in us and we live it in our lives.
Now, let's look a verse 75, one of the verses that really struck me.  The author said, I know, Lord, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.  Wait a minute, did I read it right?  "afflicted" - so this means God brought pain and suffering to him.  Yet, despite of this truth, the author understood why there's pain and sufferings in his life - because God is faithful and His laws are righteous.  Hallelujah!  This author considers affliction as God's faithfulness to him - Wow!  I mean i've never seen it that way but it's really an eye-opening! Have we ever thought that our sufferings and pains are there because God is faithful to us?  Well, it may have crossed my mind once or twice, but I really didn't understand it until today.  In verse 76, the author plead for God's unfailing love to be his comfort.  Now, how can you say that God loves you when He allowed the affliction?  Is this even possible?  Well, this author thought it is!  He knew that the sufferings and pains he is going thru at that moment was allowed by God for a reason and that reason is because God is faithful to His words and to us!  Wow!  What a totally different way of thinking from the usual human reasoning, isn't it?  Then the author continued in verse 77, requesting for God's compassion for him so he may live - why?  because he delights in God's law.  How twisted can that be?  I mean, if we think rationally as a human, this is absurd.  Yet, the truth speaks the truth and this is reality!  You plead for mercy and compassion to the ONE who allowed your affliction because He is faithful to His words and to us.  So the afflictions in our lives is even considered God's faithfulness to us!  Amazing!  What a marvelous revelation today!  Totally mind blowing!   and in the end, he sought for nothing more than to wholeheartedly obey God's decrees so he won't be put to shame.  May we have the same understanding and heart today for God's words/laws/decrees.

Prayer:
Lord, what a great revelation!  One that is totally transforming or renewing my mind!  In truth, I have not thought it this way, that our afflictions and pains in life is considered to be Your faithfulness to Your words and even to us!  So even the struggles we have in our lives are for our own good.  That's how faithful You are to us and how much You love us!  Help us Lord to see it this way and to understand the value of Your word.  Help us to have the understanding needed to obey them wholeheartedly.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!
