Title: Psalm 119 - Resh
Scripture: Psalm 119:153 – 160
God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
→ The author of today's topic speaks
of the truth that many either disregards or forgotten. "Salvation is far from the wicked"
- for the past few days, we spoke about our drive, commitment, and faithfulness
to God's words in times of hopelessness, struggles and difficulties. But today, let us address or discuss the
reality of what the wicked has in store for their future. The truth is, salvation is far from them. But God's compassion is great so if they
repent, God will be faithful to forgive but if they continue to disobey God's
words, then salvation is out of their reach.
Just earlier today, I read an article about the famous Miley Cyrus. This young lady who was an inspiration to
many kids and has shaped the thoughts of the young people when she was growing
up (and still continue do to so in our time today), has done such an
unforgivable act once again. At the
start of her concert, she went on stage carrying a Bible and said, "Here's
for you all Jesus-lovers out there" then she burned the bible on stage and
dropped it. The article continued by
saying she dance provocatively over the book...such a disrespectful act for the
Holy Bible. She was not satisfied with
that because then the lights went off, total darkness, and there were only 2
red lights turned on showing 2 inverted cross on stage. Now, I'm honestly shocked and flabbergasted
with the reports of what she did. 1/5 of
the audience went out of the concert...really? 1/5 only? All the while I was reading the article, I
could think of Miley - Does she know what she's doing? I'm guessing yes because she was brought up
in a Christian family. I'm sure she was
informed about the Bible and the Lord.
Yet she chose to do this. My
heart was in pain to see such an influential soul do such things against the
Lord. She has literally signed her death
sentenced yet my heart felt pity on her.
Then the word today said, "Salvation is far from the wicked, for
they do not seek out your decrees. Your
compassion, Lord, is great; preserve my life according to your laws." - The bible that Miley burned in front of
everyone contains the very words that will later on save her when she realizes
her biggest mistakes. I long for that
day when she can proclaim and declare her changed life in God. And somehow, God is pushing me to pray for
people like Miley because in truth, they may have all the wealth, power, and
fame today but salvation is just out of their reach right now and their hope is
for us to pray for them. So before we
react to what she did, let's stop and know that this lady used to be one of the
greatest role model of kindness, love, hope, and family on TV shows. I believe she is capable of love, of
kindness, of hope and all that she portrays in Hannah Montana. I still believe she still has those qualities
in her today. She needs our prayer...all
the "miley cyrus" of the world does.
So let's pray for them, for salvation is far from them.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, what an amazing word
today. An amazing revelation and
truth. Thank You Lord for showing me the
article earlier and for me to see the truth of this all. Help me Lord to have compassion and to pray
for those who truly needs it. Give me
wisdom and strength to be able to work my faith out in You that I may shine
Your hope, Your love, Your glory to others today. Lord, I pray for Miley Cyrus and all the
famous and influential young people in the world today who are struggling or in
the crossroad of their lives. Show them
the way Lord. Like Paul, give them the
opportunity to have an encounter with You that will ultimately change their
lives. Thank You for the answers
Lord. In Jesus' Name, Amen!
