Title: Psalm 119 - Mem
Scripture: Psalm 119:97 – 104
God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
→ What a lovely love letter! The author expressed his love for God's words
in this topic today. Not just needing
His word as a source of life but wanting it!
Desiring it to be exact! His
heart wants to meditate on God's words not just every day or a moment in a day
but all day long every day! His commands
in his heart makes him wiser than his enemies and so he has more insight than
all the teachers in his life, because for only one reason, because he meditate
on God's statutes. He has more
understanding than the elders because he obeys God's precepts. Let me stop for a moment and tell you that
God's words, His commands/statutes and precepts, bring more wisdom to us than
any other wisdom you can acquire in the world.
This author is not boasting about his wisdom compared to the elders or
teachers but he is stating a fact that if you meditate and obey God's words all
day long every day, you will have more wisdom than whatever wisdom combined
that the earthly concepts of wisdom can provide! In truth, I have come to realize that many of
the wise words from people, no matter who they, they are scientist, innovators,
leaders, shakers and movers of the earth...if you break it down and digest it
fully, you will come to find out that the root of their knowledge comes from
the word of the Lord. So let us meditate
and obey God's words all day long every day of our lives.
Now another verse that caught my
attention is verse 101, that author said, I have kept my feet from every evil
path so that I might obey your word.
Upon internalizing this verse, i realized that it is not our obedience
to God's words that will keep us from sinning!
But our decision to stop sinning that will drive us to obey God's
words! We have this mentality that when
we obey, we are doing the right thing...but this author is saying that we're
doing the right thing that's why we obey!
Wow! What an amazing revelation
again from God! Thank You Jesus! Verse 12 actually confirms what I just wrote
about God revealing new truth today, verse 12 says, "I have not departed
from your laws, for you yourself have taught me! It is God Himself who is teaching us when we study and meditate in His
words each day at every moment. In verse
103, the author spoke of sweetness in taste in God's words, sweeter than honey
to his mouth. This is very true! Because the truth comes with the experience
that makes it sweeter than any sweets.
Just like today, I have touched and felt blessed to know that God
Himself is teaching us when we meditate and study His words. Isn't that sweet? For the King of kings and Lord of lords to
find the time to speak to us and teach us His very word? The revelation that he just revealed to me or
to us, is a sweet gift that will make our heart big and this can be our daily
routing with Him. Not only that we are
emotionally blessed, we gain more understanding, which increases our knowledge
so intellectually satisfied, physically, we are also rested because spending
time with God requires stillness and rest...but most of all, spiritually we are
filled. So all aspect of our lives are
satisfied and filled as we meditate and spend time with God each day. All we have is more to gain for a few moments
of time we sacrifice, which really is no longer a sacrifice at this point in my
life. So all we have is gain when we
spend time with God and meditate in His words.
Hallelujah! That's why different people
in chapter 119, speaks nothing but their love for His words!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus what a wonderful and
amazing day to start with You! I am
grateful that today You have revealed such amazing truth to me - a
life-changing truth to be exact! Knowing
that it takes my decision to keep away from sin that will drive me to obey You
and not the other way around. Help me to
be firm in my decisions to keep away from sin Lord that I may continually
meditate and obey Your word at all times.
Give me wisdom to understand and passion to follow You. In Jesus' Name, Amen!
