TITLE: Book I
Scripture: Psalm 2:1 - 12
God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:
→ King David in Chapter 2 revealed the nature of man in his time, which has become the pure opposite of our true nature from God. Man is created good but as time goes by and sin entered in, man is born with evil nature intertwined with his good nature. That's why, there's the struggle between good and evil every day and man has to make a choice daily what nature he or she has to take. Verses 1 to 6, David portrayed man's evil nature and if we look and analyze each descriptions, it is clear that even today, man still has the same evil nature. Conspiring with one another, plotting in vain, rising up with one another and rebelling against the Lord. The Lord watches how the people see themselves more valuable than their creator and the Lord laughs at man's foolishness.
However from verse 7, David showed how God values the relationship He has with His people. Calling us His sons and daughters and allowing us to call Him Father. Verse 8 said to "ask God" and He will make the nations our inheritance, the ends of the earth our possession. God will break them with a rod of iron and will dash them to pieces like pottery. Clearly, what God is saying in this chapter through David is that, we ought to ask Him in prayer and because He values our relationship so much, HE will fight for us and use His power to give us His inheritance and the whole earth our possession. The key is to have the Father and son/daughter relationship with Him and to ask Him. So there's a need to build a relationship with our King and the need for us to approach and ask Him directly.
I n verses 10 - 12, David, as one of the greatest kings of all times, encouraged and adviced us today to be wise and be warned. He urged us to serve the Lord with fear and celebrate His rule with trembling. To the enemies, David gave warning to them that they should kiss God's sons and daughters or He will be angry and their ways will lead to destruction. Clearly, our relationship with God is powerful and He is our father who will do everything in His power to save, protect, provide, restore, heal, deliver, give us refuge, keep us safe, etc. So let us be wise and accept Him as our true Father because blessed are all who take refuge in the Lord as David stated at the last verse of this chapter. Remember to choose which nature to take daily and decide which side you want to take.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Amazing Father and Glorious King. Thank You for a wonderful and life-changing lessons from one of the greatest kings of all times, David. Lord I know that I am to decide each day and every day You don't fail to warn me or remind me of what I must do. But everyday, I fail and I become weak...that's the reason I need Your strength all the more Lord. I need Your guidance in every decisions I make. Help me make them Lord and help me choose what is right! In Jesus' Name, Amen!
