TITLE: For the Director of Music, With Stringed Instruments, A Psalm Of David
Scripture: Psalm 4:1 - 8
God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:
→ David has always been solely dependent on God from the very start. He wrote in chapter 4 that while people asks for someone to bring them prosperity, David lies in peace and sleep because he knows that the Lord alone can make him dwell in safety. David is teaching us in this chapter to rest upon the Lord and not attack the sons and daughters of God. To seek Him with all our hearts, mind, body and soul only. He is telling us a secret that we ought to understand. The Lord sets apart what is HIS and so if we seek Him and be part of HIS, we are set apart and when we call upon HIM, HE is sure to answer us. HE will give us relief in our distress and mercy will be upon us. Our prayers will be heard and He will fill our heart with joy when the grain and new wine abound. David in this chapter portrayed God as an abundant provider who wants to fill man's heart with joy and keep us safe in times of trouble. He is a God who gives relief even in times of distress. The question is, is this what we want? Do we want to live a worry-free life in a worryful world? Then trust God, seek HIM wholeheartedly and be totally dependent on HIM alone. David had experienced Him personally and as we read through his stories, we know that God never failed nor left him even when he sinned. So let's fix our eyes on the Lord and let Him take care of us!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, what a wonderful and amazing psalm from David. Every word speaks truth because DAvid himself experienced Your greatness and goodness altogether. Lord I long to have the same experience as DAvid. I long to have the chance to see You work in my life, bring me miracles upon miracles each day and intervened in my times of distress or needs. Lord I want to see You working mightily in my life too. Change me Lord and mold me to have the characters of DAvid that I may always long to be with You at all times. In Jesus' Name, Amen!
