TITLE: For the Director of Music, According to Gittith.  A Psalm of David.

Scripture:  Psalm 8:1 - 9

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ David was in awe of the Lord.  This chapter clearly showed David's point of view and emotions towards the favor and mercy God gifted us of.  David seen the magnificence of God yet He, the One and true God, chose to give ear to humans like us who is underserving of such attention.  David started this chapter with the truth of who God is.  He is our Lord! And His Name is majestic in all the earth!  There is none like the Lord.  His Name alone is none other and brings so much power and glory.  When He told Moses who He is, "I am who I am!" - Now doesn't that speak power and strength?  Doesn't that command attention and focus?  Doesn't that bring glory and demands respect? Clearly, His Name is Majestic in all the earth indeed!

The Lord delights in our praises and worship and He established a safe refuge for His people because of it.  David said, when I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars...now let us contemplate on this and just truly understand where David is coming from.  Have you seen how a tree grows?  How intricate and complex it is?  With just drops of water, a shed of light, fruitful soil, and air, the miracles starting to unfold right before our eyes...yet in the end, we cannot still truly fathom how it grows.  It is a miracle!  Consider the sky, the stars, the sun and the moon - Have you thought of what triggers them to come out?  How do they know that it is their time to shine?  Is there an alarm clock that reminds them of it? How are they able to shine so bright that they can light the whole earth and even the whole universe?  Have you considered ourselves?  Man in its simplest form, how are they created?  How one of the many sperm cells managed to capture an egg?  How the body of a baby grows inside a human body?  These are all mysteries for us, we may have scientific explanations that we have learned to embrace and accept and though these facts are true, we still unable to understand why exactly these things do what they do.  These are all the wonders of the Lord that only HE can do, only He can put a stop on or hold.  And these are just a few of the many things He can do so in retrospect, HE is amazing!  Magnificent and Awesome!  Yet verse 4, David asked a simple yet relevant question that we ought should understand and realize, "What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?"  True!  What are we that God sent His only Son to die for us so we may live?  What are we that God holds our lives and future at the palm of His hands?  What are we that HE destroyed and ruined death so this victory may give us eternal life?  What are we?  the answer is...we are nothing!

David continued on illustrating how in awe he was of the Lord's great love for man.  We are lesser beings yet we are crowned with glory and honor.  We are unworthy, yet we were made rulers over His works.  All His living creatures on earth.  What an amazing love God has for us!  And because of this, David declared that the Lord is our Lord and His Name is Majestic in all the earth!  Let us proclaim the same :)  Hallelujah!

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, amazing and wonderful God!  I am in awe too of Your great and amazing Grace upon my life each day.  I am so grateful that today, You have shown me once again, Your great love for me thru David's words.  In truth, I asked the same multiple times in my life because even though I know and I believe, I am still in awe of Your great love for me.  Thank You Jesus for this love and I pray that I will live with this amazing love and Grace with me every day of my life.  Give me favor Lord and let Your love just overflow in me that I may show it to the world.  I love you too Lord.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!
