TITLE: Book I

Scripture:  Psalm 1:1 - 6

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ The first chapter of the book of Psalm, David wrote very valuable lesson for us all.  His first teaching is a reminder that a man who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way of the sinners or sit in the company of mockers, is blessed!  It is an important reminder for us all every day that we ought to choose to do these things.  Verse 1 - 2 showed the importance of choosing and when we make the right choice in our lives daily, we are blessed!  David continued by illustrating further what being blessed means.  He portrayed a blessed man like a tree planted by streams of water, full of life and whose leaf does not wither and just prospers.  Now if you want a live and be alive, become productive, one who does not die away (discourage, depress, or any negative emotions or thinking that leads to death of spirit or body) and to prosper at everything you do...then the key is to make the right choices!  To choose to receive them on a daily basis by choosing the ways of the Lord and not men or evil.  In verse 4, David also showed the representation of the life of the wicked who make poor decisions every day.  Their life is blown away and will not stand in judgment at the end for they cannot be mixed with the righteous.  Then David ended in verse 6, where he reminded us that the Lord watches over the ways of the righteous but the ways of the wicked lead to destruction.  So if you want to be blessed, for your life to be filled with productivity and growth, for everything you do to prosper, then choose to do what is right and the Lord watches Your ways at all times.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for this wonderful and insightful lesson.  David clearly knew what is important and to start his book (psalm), the first thing he wrote about is man's freedom of choice.  Reminding us all to choose wisely - choosing what is right.  Thank You Lord because everyday, You give us the strength and wisdom to choose what is right in a time when every decision seems like a struggle betweem right and wrong.  Continue to guide me Lord in the right path and help me make the right decisions in choosing the path I take.  I want the blessed path, one that You watches over.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!
