TITLE:
Scripture: Psalm 10:1 - 18
God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:
→ Some people say that Psalm 10 is a continuation of David's letter from Psalm 9. In this chapter though, we can see that David illustrated to us what the wicked man does. At times, we feel that God is far away especially when the wicked are winning against us and we are suffering. David felt the same way and asked God these questions, Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? and Why do you stand far off? Even David, one of the closest man to God, the beloved and one of the greatest kings of all times, felt that at times, God is far and silent in his times of trouble. So we are not alone in this my friends. David felt it too, the man after God's own heart, had moments in his life when he felt God is far from him. We ought to take comfort that when we feel that God is far away, it is not that God left us but because He has a plan and a purpose.
Let's look at the psalm. David described what the wicked does - he hunts down the weak (could be bullying), those who are deceived or those who are fragile and innocent. Even the wicked knows how to bless others but he chooses to bless those who are greedy, so we call it today bribery, and he reviles the Lord. God has no room in his thoughts because he is busy thinking of other things. His ways are always prosperous and he rejects the law of the Lord. So the wicked lived prosperously, without worry of money, so it was easy for them to reject the law because they have everything. They directly rejects it or just buy the law of their money. He is arrogant and believes in himself so much that he feels like no one and nothing can ever stop him. He speaks lies and threats and ambushes the innocent and murder them. He thinks that God doesn't see what he does and that he is unstoppable. In short, the verses from 2 to 11, speaks of how the devil only prey with the weak, the innocent and the fragile. He doesn't pick a fight with someone who is like him because he knows that if he does, he will just be fighting himself. So he looks for someone weaker that he can easily crush. So in truth, the wicked is a coward who fight the weak only. He only goes to battle to those whom he knows he can win! But He was wrong because the people he thought weak, are the ones that God defends! Hallelujah!
But in Verses 12 - 15, David brought such inspiration and confirmation for the weak. David gave us affirmation that our God, the Great Almighty, the King of all, never forgets the helpless. He sees the troubles of the afflicted and consider our grief and take it in hand. And we ought to commit ourselves to Him for He is the helper of the Fatherless. He will break the arm of the wicked and call them to account for his wickedness and He will judged him or them that is wicked.
So Like David in verses 16 - 18, let's us declare the Lord is King forever and rejoice for the Lord hear the desires of the afflicted and encourages us to call upon God more. Our Lord is our defender and when He strikes, earthly mortals will learn never again to strike terror ever! Amen!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You because You assure us that You are with us even when we feel like You are far from us. Thank You Lord because You have again confirmed and assured me that You are in control and even if we feel like everything is against us. WE ought to seek You more and more each day because in Your perfect time, all will be settled and taken care of. Lord You are the defender of the fatherless and as one who lost her father in this world, I know that You have defended me for so many times in my life already and I thank You for that Lord. Thank You Father for defending me and for being my Lord. I love You and I am so blessed that You chose me. Thank You! In Jesus' Name, Amen!
