TITLE: Job
Scripture: Job 21:1 - 34
God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:
→ Job in this chapter somehow realized that his friends were hurt so as you can see in verses 1 - 3, he pleaded that they listen to his words first before they speak. In verse 4, Job even emphasized to them that his complaint is not directed to human or to them specifically. Clearly, Job is more sensitive to them even in his situation than his friends to him. Funny that many times, we fell into the same trap. We want to help others but we are not sensitive enough to know what they needed and just like these friends, they only hear selectively what Job said and dwell on the words that they thought were attacks on them, which does not help JOb at all. In fact, when Job noticed that they are dwelling on the hurt that his words caused, he tried to divert their focus on the real matter, which is his concern.
Job spoke about the wicked growing old and living long, about them increasing in power and seeing their children established, their homes safe, and that God's rod are not upon them. Clearly, JOb saw that the wicked do not get the punishment they deserve and so they continue neglecting the Lord and staying away from Him. Job continued on arguing that some say the punishments of the wicked are stored for their children yet Job's reply to that was, "what do the wickeds care about their families? The families they leave behind?" So these are mysteries that Job used to show his friends that what happened to him was not in accordance to the law because he did not sin. IT was an attempt to explain his situation. Moving on, Job concluded that no one can really teach knowledge to God. And at the end of this chapter, Job concluded that his friends’ arguments to him are nonsense. They pushed on that the wicked are punished that's why Job is suffering because of his sin, which Job considered untrue or false. Job just stated facts that disproves that law and even declared that his friends' comfort or console of words are nothing but falsehood. Note again that at this point, JOb’s knowledge or truth is based on own knowledge...it may have been true then that the wicked survived and just grow in wealth and power, as it is today, still the truth remains that these people are caught up with humanly achievements and didn’t understand what true blessings or success is. A few days ago, I spoke about true blessings that a car is not the blessing, it is the comfort of not commuting or the trouble of not riding a bus or jeepney, which is the true blessing. A house is not a blessing, but the protection, safety and comfort it gives us are the true blessings. Money is not a blessing but the satisfaction and fullness that money can give to man, are considered blessings. But man are so in tune of visible/tangible blessings that we tend to forget what we truly deserve as blessings in our lives
Job’s friends became insensitive while JOb became so sensitive of his own feelings and conditions. 2 different dealings and both chose path in the opposite direction, yet the truth of both parties are still incomplete. The truth is not uncovered fully because God’s truth was not discussed becuase they were too focus on their own version of truths. This should serve as a lesson for us all to always discuss the truth of the Lord and allow God to speak to us becuase we tend to have our own version of truth and most of the time, it’s just a small version of the whole reality. So when there are things in our lives that we don’t understand why it’s happening, we ought to always bring God’s truth in and not just our own.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Thank You for the opporunity to see what man is capable of when suffering. Lord help me to always hold on to your truth and not my own. Help me Lord to be sensitive to others and not just to myself. Help me to speak Your version of the truth and not just waht I understand. Lord, Your understanding and knowledge and wisdom brings clarity and peace in chaos so I seek for Your guidance in times of conflict or arguments. Let Your truth guide me at all times. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
