TITLE: Job
Scripture: Job 26:1 - 14
God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:
→ Job in this chapter is directly attacking his friends now. Previously, he was attacking God and indirectly rebuking his friends but in this chapter, Job point the fingers directly to them and spoke sarcastically of how they have helped him. This happened when Bildad and his friends started insulting him in the previous chapters, pointing out his mistakes, becoming a mirror of his sins. So Job lashed back and sarcastically threw offensive words at them too. Job also spoke of God's majestic being and power but I got this feeling that it was not out of awe but it was more sarcastically spoken.
No matter how patience we are, or how founded we are in the word, if we focus on our sufferings or if our focus is directed away from the Lord, we will fail. Job was a long time christian, a man of the law and was blameless, yet when sufferings came into his life, he tried his best to understand it. However pity swept in when his friends came and took pity on him and this pity lead him to focus on the feeling of injustice, which then escalated to self-righteousness. As for his friends, their pity clouded their ability to help Job. They were supposed to feel compassion and not pity and though they initially started out with good intentions, they also failed to help me because they were too focus on the minor things that Job said (to be specific, those were the words they felt were an attack to their characters and persona), instead of focusing on God, they focus on keeping their reputation and defending their honor. Instead of mediating in behalf of Job, they became the judge and condemned him. So let us all learn from Job and his friends. Understand that in every conflict, arguments, sufferings, troubles, challeges, struggles or problems, we ought to focus our mind, heart and soul to God. He is the only One who can answer and can save us. We ought to seek for Him further especially when it feels like He is so far away. Because, though He is not answering, He is there with us and He knows everything and in time, when we are find faithful, all the answers we need will be given to us.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for YOur amazing love and kindness. Thank You for the lessons You taught me from Job and his friends’ lives. Help me Lord to make Your words alive in my life and ensure that my focus is fixed in You all the time. Help me Lord not to be guided by my emotions but to remain faithful in You no matter what. Help me Lord to hold on to my faith when tough times come. Keep me in line in You that I may live each day with the faith and hope of salvation that only You can give. Give me wisdom to make the right choices despite of my eyes misleading me from the truth. Help me to choose You every moment even if my body, my mind and my heart, betrays me. Give me the strength to continue on when the best way out is to quit and let go. Give me Your joy and presence every day that I may continue and keep on living under Your loving kindness and Grace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
