TITLE: Job
Scripture: Job 14:1 - 22
God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:
→ At this point Job is clearly depressed, his words are focus on the hopeless things. His sufferings covered his eyes from seeing the positive or the great things in his life. He was dwelling on the things he was unable to answer and the things that he saw with no hope. He spoke of God as someone who only remembers His people when He longed for them but He is also someone who will inflict sufferings to anyone including His own. What a sad thing to say. Clearly, Job’s words were influence deeply by his emotions and though his words are true, God does have the power to inflict sufferings on us even to His own, and God has all the authority to choose not to forgive or forget our sins. He is God so HE has all these choices and when He does choose something that doesn’t benefit us or may not be favorable to us, who can question that? He is God and His choices will always be the one that prevails. But Job failed to recognize that though all of these are true, God chose to love us anyway. God chose to erase our sins, God chose to forgive us and give us mercy, God chose to die and rise again to save us, God chose us! In his life at that moment, his sufferings were so great that he failed to see that God has chosen him. God has chosen him to be alive rather than die. Satan would love Job to die and be removed from this earth, knowing how God is so proud of him. Yet, God ensure that Satan do not lay a finger on Job’s life. In the end, the Lord’s choice still shows Job. God chose Job but Job failed to see it because he was so preoccupied of his pain and sufferings. Many times, we are like Job. We tend to magnify our problems or our issues rather than see God in us bigger than any giants (problems) in our lives. Let us always remember this.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your love and grace. Thank You for choosing me despite of my imperfections. Thank You for keeping me alive eventhough I do not deserve it. Lord help me to always remember that You have better plans and everything that happens to me are allowed by You because You chose me. Because You love me and You care for me. Open my heart and mind to see the true purpose of all things in my life that I may always give You glory despite of any circumstances I am in. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
