TITLE: The Lord Speaks

Scripture:  Job 39:1 - 30

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ God continued to show Job His true character and nature as the only True God!  Amazing as He is with infinite wisdom that knows everything.  Nothing is hidden even the little details that we do not mind at all.  It's important to note that God used living creatures as example in demonstrating His infinite wisdom.  Telling Job that He alone has the exact time of every movement or creations of any being.  This is our God!  Inifinite is His wisdom and He holds the time in His hands.  So He is never too late nor is He early...for He is always on time!  Praise God!  He controls time and He make it His responsibility to know the details of everything that happens in His living creations, especially us.  Hallelujah!

God also spoke of the One responsible for safe refuge for His living creatures.  He spoke of setting the wild donkey free and bringing him to a wasteland, which is his home.  He provides them home that ranges the hills for its pasture, where they can search for any green thing for food.  God sets these wild donkeys free without the care of the world.  This is how God wants us to live life - worry free for HE is our refuge and source.  Amen!  God illustrated different living animals like the wild donkey, wild ox, ostrich, horse, locust, hawk, etc...these are animals who live freely and wildly without a care in the world.  Yet they are all taken care of because of God.  Amazing!

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, Your words are truly eye-opening and it's amazing that on the 1st day of 2015, Your words are clear!  You have infinite wisdom, You are my safe refuge, and You provide me a life worry-free!  Thank You Jesus!  I am again touched and moved by your powerful message today and I will hold on to it this 2015.  I will trust You for You have inifinite wisdom, You control time, You hold the future;  I will rest on You because You give me a safe refuge and gives me life without worries.  I will have faith in You fully to live 2015 worry-free!  Thank You Lord for this promise!  In Jesus' Name, Amen!

TITLE: The Lord Speaks

Scripture:  Job 38:1 - 41  

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ Chapter 38 was when God first intervened and spoke in response to Job.  This may be nothing but it may be important to note that only after Elihu declared God's majesty, power and might did God intervened and spoke!  This may be the reason why prayers are usually started with adoration, praise and worship to our King.  Anyway, God started by calling out the man who obscure His plans with words without knowledge.  This means Job was hindering His plans because of his unfounded logic or empty words.  This made me to think, our empty words, our negativity, our complaints, can hinder the Lord's plans not only for our lives but for His people too.  So we ought to set our focus to His plans and consider them in how we speak, act and think.  

God then continued to speak showing Job his distinction from the Lord.  The Lord asked Job as to where he was when God laid the foundation of the earth?  Or where is he when God laid its cornerstone?  God showed Job that what God does is way beyond Job's understanding and to question God as if they are equals is inappropriate and wrong.  Here we see how God revealed to Job his mistakes, how wrong his thinking or logic was.  God told Job the truth, which is, his understanding, his wisdom and knowledge is so little compared to God's and so Job is not God's equal.  God is far more superior than Job, which I believe opened JOb's eyes to the truth of his mistakes and his wrong thinking.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for a great message.  Thank You that You know how to put Job back in his place.  The words You have spoken was necessary for Job to see the truth of the reality that You are far more superior than him.  Job was wrong into thinking that he is your equal or to the point of having the right to demand something from You.  Or for him to think that his wisdom can truly understands Your power and sovereignty and plans.  Lord may I always remember that You are greater and powerful and majestic than any man, especially myself.  Help me to realize the truth that I am nothing but a man and I only excel because of You.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!

TITLE: Elihu

Scripture:  Job 37:1 - 24

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ Elihu continued to illustrate the power and might of God in this chapter.  He spoke of Him with authority and influence like no other.  He portrayed God's ability to control nature and the power of His majestic voice alone.  Describing God beyond man's ability to understand.  Elihu clearly set the distinction between man and God in this conversation as Job has treated God as if his equal in his final words.  So Elihu straigthened things and made sure job and the three friends understood the distinction between them and God Almighty.  In verse 14, Elihu spoke to Job directly and challenge him to stop considering his own selfish emotions but to consider what really matters, God!  His power and wonders.  Elihu even showed Job his limitations when he asked Job if job can join God in spreading out the skies in verse 18 and all the way down to 24.  Specifically highlighting that God is beyond man's reach.  He is exalted in power and awesome in majesty that's why people revere Him.  Clearly Elihu put Job's back in his place, in short, pulling his feet down to the ground, because Job has elevated himself equal to God due to his self-righteousness.  What a scary thought that man since the beginning of time has the drive to elevate himself equal to God.  But in the end, Elihu's words woken Job to the reality that he is just a man and God is God!

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for this revelation.  Clearly, You have showed me once again the evil nature of man.  Its prideful persona.  Lord i know I am capable of such pride and that's why Lord that I pray that You keep me humble at all times.  Let me remember that I am never worth anything without You.  Help me to see the truth that I am nothing but a mere man and can never be equal to You.  Help me Lord to have a humble heart at all times.  Keep my heart pure and humble.  Lord, give me wisdom and clear understanding of what is true and right.  Help me to see myself as You see me but not to the point of feeling better than anyone else.  Give me humility Lord, I ask of You for this.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!

TITLE: Elihu

Scripture:  Job 36:1 - 33 

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ Elihu continued to speak in God's behalf and he is making sense in everything he said - a clear indication of God's understanding and wisdom in him.  What I like how Elihu spoke in this chapter is, he started by saying that he will speak in God's behalf but he never claimed to know everything, in fact, verse 4 showed that Elihu assured Job that his words are not false and even told Job that the One who has perfect knowledge is with him.  So Elihu did not speak trying to justify his words, instead, he told Job that God who has perfect knowledge of all is in him who will confirm that the words he spoke is true.  May we all speak in the same confidence that the words we release will be accepted in the understanding and wisdom that comes only from God.

Then, Elihu reiterate God's character as a God of power and justice.  He portrayed God as one who looks after His children and who also speaks to His people to reveal the wrong they have done.  Elihu described God as just and fair.  In verse 13 - 21, Elihu reminded Job that God is the God who delivers His people from their suffering, who woes him from the jaws of distress - wow, what an illustration.  A God who woes, like a suitor courts a lady, one who pursues and never quits.  What an amazing God we have!  He loves us so much that He woes us though in truth, we do not deserve to be woed.  Elihu also reminded Job that in times of distress of affliction to beware of turning to evil.  In verses 22 to 33, Elihu greatly exalted God and brought Job and the other 3 friends back to the truth - the reality of who God is and that no one can truly comprehend His amazing persona.  So in the end, to deal with conflicts (any type), the focus should be led back to the Lord.  

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for a great and wonderful lesson today.  Thank You for the daily favor and blessings that You pour out each day.  Lord help me to remember that the highlight of our daily lives should be You.  Help me to apply this in my life in every opportunity I get.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!

TITLE: Elihu

Scripture:  Job 35:1 - 16

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ Elihu at a young age clearly was given deep understanding by God to have come up with logic out of the words he spoke in this chapter.  He started chapter 35 by responding to Job's question on justice.  He pointed out that Job's perspective has the wrong focus.  In short, Elihu, showed Job the real focus of the whole story in his situation.  Job was too caught up in his own sufferings and asking questions specific to his own self but nothing pertaining to the Lord.  So Elihu took the opportunity to divert his focus and showed him what he should be asking about.  Job was initially asking what he gets when he does not sin?  But Elihu diverted that and told him that sin does not affect God!  So Job was demanding a form of reward for not sinning - as if God was  in debt to him for not sinning at all.  Elihu corrected this and told him that his sin does not affect God!  His sins affects humans like himself only and his righteousness also impacts other people and not GOD!  So when he does good things, it is for his own good not Gods!  Amazing!  Many people feel that God owes them for doing what is right and this is the same feeling Job had but Elihu rebuked him and showed him that his actions whether good or bad, does not impact the Lord.  It only impacts man!  Elihu also pointed out that when man cry out to God under oppression they do not question His visibility or power or authority or identity.  Then Elihu showed Job the real reason why God does not answer him, verse 12 says that God does not answer when people cry out because of the arrogance of the wicked. For their words are empty so God does not pay attention to their words. In the end, all of job's words are empty and they were spoken without knowledge because he was arrogant!

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your Grace and mercy to us all.  Thank You because You never fail us and never let go of us.  Jesus, I am sorry for my shortcomings and for my poor choices and help me Lord to be humble always, seeking for Your word and presence at all times.  Lord I do not wish to be in Job's situation but if the opportunity arises that I will be placed in one, help me Lord to be strong in You and to remain humble at all times.  I do not seek to show my innocence for I am guilty.  Keep my understanding and wisdom of You right at all times.  Help me remember Elihu's words about the truth that the actions I do whether good or bad, does not impact You, my God, it only impacts myself and other people.  So You do not owe me anything when I do what You say for doing what You say is really for my own good.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!

TITLE: Elihu

Scripture:  Job 34:1 - 37

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ Elihu's words in this chapter were very powerful!  Amazing that at his young age, he was able to come up with such deep understanding.  Truly it was the Spirit of God that brings great clarity to things instead of man's experiences or years.  I am amazed at how God used Elihu to bring the proud to humility and to rebuke Job's wrong thinking about our Great God!  

He started this chapter by asking them to hear his words and even call them wise men.  He established that the tongue is to taste food while the ears to test words.  Clearly, he brought logic to them as to why they should hear his words.  Then in verse 4, he encourage them to discern what is right and learn together what is good.  So here we see, that Elihu, did not speak as if he knew everything, instead he encouraged them that they seek or discover what is true together.  So here he positioned himself as someone in search of truth together with them (even if Elihu already has an idea of what the truth is for God has revealed it to him).  But he didn't act like he knew better, instead, he said that they all should learn what is true and good in this situation.  Again, another great learning on how Elihu handled the situation, especially handling people older than him.  Such great people skill on such a young man, praise God!

Then Elihu told the three friends to listen, he pointed out what Job has been crying out - his innocense!  Elihu was just reitirating what Job already told them in verses 5 - 9, then he showed them how they should have responded.  The three friends insisted that Job sin in response to what Job said, but instead of doing that, Elihu showed them what's wrong with Job's statement.  So recognize Job's concern but they should have showed him how wrong it was by focusing on who God is instead of insisting that Job sinned because of he was suffering.  In verses 10 - 15, Elihu showed them that it is impossible for God to do evil for He is the source of all good.  He told them who God really is and that He brings undeserved favor to men.  He pointed out that it is unthinkable for God to do wrong!  Furthermore in verses 16 - 20, he showed that God has no favorites and history showed Him as just and One who shows no partiality to princes or does not favor rich over the poor!  Then in verses 21 - 30, Elihu portrayed God as someone who doesn't need to hear further reasons or explanations from people, as if He missed something (like Job wanting to plead his case), for God takes note of their deeds.  He sees everything and brings justice to those who deserve them.  So Elihu in short, spoke who God is and focus on Him not on the problem, the sufferings or men.  We ought to do the same in conflicts!

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, Thank You for yet another wonderful learning today.  I am so amazed of how You can turn things around for good and for opening our eyes to the truth.  Help me Lord to bring and represents You in the best possible way in my conversation.  Help me to speak of the right words that will not diminish Your greatness or Your glory but instead use my words to declare Your magnificence to others.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!

TITLE: Elihu

Scripture:  Job 33:1 - 33

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→  Wow, Elihu was on fire in this chapter.  He spoke powerful words for his age, clearly showing wisdom from the Lord.  Elihu started by laying down his right intentions for speaking.  Knowing that he is young, he didn't want to sound rude or sounds like he knows more than Job or the others.  So he made it clear that his words come from an upright heart and his lips sincerely speak what he knows (verse 3).  He first addressed Job who was the focus of the situation.  But instead of pointing out Job's possible mistakes, Elihu made Job understand that he too is the same like Job who is a man and so he is not there to attack him but he is there to help.  Then he proceed by telling Job that his belief that God is his enemy is not right!  This was a rebuke to what Job said, totally opposite from what Job spoke of.  let me stop and just say that like Elihu, we should not be ashamed or afraid to speak of the truth even if it means contradicting what the elderly said wrong about the Lord.  We should not be afraid to speak the truth even if it means contradicting what another person in authority said.  It is always better to speak the truth of God rather than please others and agree with what was said wrong.

Moving on, Elihu then spoke of God in response to Job's accusations.  Job said that God does not speak or answer but Elihu corrected Job and said that God speaks in many ways, thru dream, vision, He may speaks in our ears, etc. But what's amazing is that after Elihu established that God is an answering God, he then spoke of God's amazing grace.  Starting from Verse 23, Elihu spoke of God who acts to save His people who cries out to Him.  So elihu not only spoke of God as an answering God but also a God who saves.  But more importantly, Elihu spoke of God's amazing grace.  Verses 27 - 28, elihi said, "And they will go to others and say, I have sinned, i have perverted what is right, but I did not get what I deserved.  God has delivered me from going down to the pit and I shall live to enjoy the light of life."  And Elihu even give emphasis to God's Grace and kindness and goodness by saying that He does it to a person twice even three times to turm them back from the pit!  Incredible!  This only proves God's amazing Grace for His people already exists from the begining of time.  Thank You Lord.

Prayer: 

Lord Jesus, what an amazing friend Elihu was.  He was young but he was not afraid to speak the truth even if he could hurt someone he respects and looked up to.  He was willing to take the risk of hurting Job and the three friends just to speak the truth of the Lord.  Lord, help me to have the same conviction in me that I must speak what is right and true instead of choosing to please others and keeping Your truth inside.  Help me Lord to always see things as Elihu saw it.  give me the understanding that only Your spirit can give.  Give me wisdom to see beyond what my personal emotions and thinking tells me.  Help me Lord to speak of Your grace in times of conflict and not fanning the arguments more.  Help me to best represents You to others rather than creating or magnifying the issues within the group.  Use me Lord in whatever ways You choose to.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!

TITLE: Elihu

Scripture:  Job 32:1 - 22

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ A new character risen from the group, his name is Elihu and he was the youngest of all.  Elihu showed respect by keeping quiet when the older onces discussed and argued however when the 3 friends stopped answering Job because Job was feeling righteous in his eyes..Elihu had to speak.  He spoke of what he knows, out from the Spirit of God.  Note vs. 7-8, at first Elihu was hesitant to speak because of his age but verse 8, he said, "but it is the spirit in a person, the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding" - not one's age.  Then he proceed of speaking how he can no longer wait and speak nothing when all words released from the 3 friends of Job and from Job himself are all futile.  So he spoke!  

We can learn a lot from ELihu in this chapter.  He was young, inexperienced and humble.  However you cannot just keep quiet all the time just because you are young or inexperienced.  The truth cannot be kept.  and when the people around you does not speak the truth, your spirit within will be in protest and would want to speak out especially when you have the truth within you.  So just like Elihu, do not be afraid to speak out the truth just because you are surrounded by older generation.  If we read on the chapter again, I love it when Elihu said in verse 18 when he said, "for I am full of words, and the spirit within me compels me"  Our very own spirit, compels us to speak of the truth from inside so do not hesitate when you know you speak of nothing but the truth.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for a wonderful lesson.  Thank You because there is truly a time for everything.  Thank You that at times, I must learn to be quiet but in other times, I must speak the truth especially when no one is speaking it.  Help me Lord to discern the right time so I may speak the words You want me to speak and not just my own.  Help me Lord to be sensitive and to know when to be silent and when to speak out.  Give me guidance Lord and let Your Spirit in me understands the situation that I may act appropriately in accordance to Your will.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!

TITLE: Job

Scripture:  Job 31:1 - 40

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ Job's last words of defense is made in this chapter and he ended his defense declaring his innocence instead of pleading for mercy to God or trusting God for a bigger purpose in his life.  Job was clearly hurt and the pain he felt was too great because he put emphasis and focus on it more than the love and compassion that God bestowed upon him.  In many cases, we are guilty like Job.  We tend to highlight everything that is unjustice or not good in our lives and leave what is out.  We tend to draw more attention to all the negativity, either the negative things we cause or the negative things that were inflicted on us.  And because of the focus we give to them, it becomes bigger to a point that our own viewpoint shrinks to it.  It's like our eyes are blindly limited to the specific (small) spot of our pain in the picture.  Rather than looking at the bigger picture and seeing that the pain is just a small spot in a wider canvass.  We literally do this many times in our lives as human beings and we have to stop and step back so we may see clearer the wholeness of the image.  Job in this chapter clearly was focus on his own sufferings and didn't see God's love and grace in it because he was too preoccuppied to the pain and sufferings he is feelings.  We ought to remember this always.  I am not saying that we should disregard our feelings when it is negative.  We must acknowledge them but not highlight them because in the end, God has a bigger purpose in everything that happens in our lives.  It is our role to trust Him fully and not question or defend ourselves...because we will surely fail.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for the great lesson today.  I know I am guilty of this because I usually have the urged to defend myself especially when I am wrongly accuse but Lord help me to be patient and see things in Your perspective.  Not all the time, I need to defend or speak for myself.  I must learn to be quiet at times.  Silence sometimes is the best solution.  Help me Lord to trust You fully in everything.  Give me wisdom on how to deal with difficult situations especially when it requires me to be silent.  I know myself and I tend to fight back or reason out when I see that things aren’t right and sometimes I need to learn to just shut up and let You take care of it.  So today Lord, I lay down my current situation.  I am choosing to shut up and be silent.  I give in to You and letting You take care of everything.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
