Title: Psalm 115
Scripture: Psalm 115:1 – 18
God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
→ All glory and honor belong to You
Lord! Hallelujah! The author of Psalm 115 has this same truth
emphasized in all his words from verse 1 to 18.
It speaks of nothing but the proof of only God is living and deserving
of praise and worship. He started by declaring
the fact that the glory is not to us, humans or His people, but to Him and Him
alone, because of one simple truth, because of His love and faithfulness at all
times. God has never abandoned nor was
He unfaithful to us and for that alone, He deserves glory and honor and
praise. But the author didn't stop
there, he continued on in laying down a very unworthy comparison of the Lord to
other gods. So first he made sure glory
is given to the One who deserves it then He ensure God's throne or claim by
proving that other gods are unlike Him.
He stated facts that will destroy any accreditation of worthy praise to
other gods. Because the are not even
capable to doing what a regular human can do, like speaking, smelling, seeing
and other human senses. Thus, the
conclusion that anyone who trust in them are like those who build them.
Then in verse 9, the author
changed views and urged Israelis to trust in the Lord for He is our help and
shield. Since the beginning even to this
moment in time, that hasn't change! The
Lord is still our help and shield. So we
ought to trust Him fully. Furthermore,
the author reminded us that the Lord remembers us always and bless us. He bless all who fear Him, small and great
alike. So let us all fear the Lord and
trust in Him always. Then the author
spoke of blessings for those who fear God; speaking of flourishing and being
blessed by our Maker.
But in the end, the author decided
to end his psalm in the same way he started it, by declaring all praises, glory
and honor to God alone. Praise the
Lord! Hallelujah!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, what a great and
marvelous reminder to me today. Truly,
You deserve all praises and glory. Thank
You Lord for showing me that You are forever my help and shield. Thank You that at times when I am weak and
tired, You are my help and my shield; whenever I feel down or wanting to give
up, You are my help and my shield; whenever I find myself in trouble or in
distress, You aremy help and my shield.
Hallelujah! I'm truly blessed for
having You as my help and my shield, Lord.
In Jesus' Name, Amen!
