Title: Of David.
Scripture: Psalm 27:1 - 14

God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
This chapter is another powerful message and the message is about waiting.  Such an uncommon topic, right?  In a time when speed is a necessity, God is asking us to wait upon Him.  Isn't that something?  Well, David knew God and his heart is after God, so this is definitely something that God wants us to hear and learn from.  I am amazed of David how his words speak of certainty.  Seems like nothing or no one can make him waiver by the words he spoke in this psalm.  Look at his words, The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall i fear?  There's a sense of surity, like as if nothing and no one can ever break that truth!  He continued by saying, "The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?  Now, there are many strongholds in our lives but having God as the only Stronghold in Your life will give You the courage and assurance that nothing or no one can steal from You!  The thing is, this is true because God is not a thing that someone can steal.  God is not a made up statement or truth that anyone can disprove.  God is not anything that can be broken or ruin.  So we can fix in Him rather than any tool that any man can destroy!  We can be sure that nothing can destroy His image or truth because He is not a symbol or a thing or just plain words.  He is real and no one can take control of Him because He alone can take control of everything!  So we can be certain and sure of our faith in Him.
David said that he only asked for one thing and that is to dwell in the house of the Lord forever this is because David knew that what we truly need in this life is Him and when we are in His house, we can truly be safe.  But amazingly, God made it even easier for us to come to Him because we are now His dwelling place.  He lives in us and so He can always be near us and we to Him.  He can keep us safe from all trouble because He lives in us and we can depend on Him at all times.
It is very important to seek God. David emphasized that in this chapter.  His heart shouts and speaks to us all to SEEK HIS FACE!  In verse 9, David said to God "Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger, for God has been his helper."  May we understand and see the dependency of David to God and God alone.  David was certain that even if the whole world walks out from him, he knows that God will remain by his side so he will be ok.
More importantly, I want us to focus from verse 11.  David said to God, "Teach me your way, Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors." Now let's pause for a moment and analyze this.  David was going through some tough times and his enemies are growing in numbers.  Yet it was because of his enemies or troubles that he asked God to teach him His ways and to lead him in a straight path.  There's something valuable in these words.  Clearly, David knew that because of his enemies or troubles, he might go into the wrong path and choose to his ways or man's ways.  David clearly knew the nature of man - that is the human nature.  He knew that man when in trouble, will find a way to fix things on his own, therefore forgetting to depend on God which most likely lead to sin or the wrong path.  And so he asked God to lead him to the right path and teach him.  Again, there's the humble heart requesting for correction.  Can we say the same thing for us?  do we seek God's teachings and corrections when we are in trouble?  Or we rather choose to fix things on our own?  Something to ponder on again.
David spoke to God and pleaded not to turn him over to the desire of his enemies, or in another term, to turn us over to our troubles!  Are we giving in to our troubles?  Are we giving up and allowing our problems to rule us?
David remained confident of one thing and that is, he is 100% sure that he will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Do we have the same confidence when we are in trouble?  Do we know that when things fall apart in our lives, there's always hope because we will again see God's goodness? If so, WAIT!
Hallelujah!  Praise God!

Prayer:
Lord another amazing lesson - so valuable!  I am blessed that You reveal these words to me Lord.  Help me to apply it in my life.  Help me to realize that my assurance and confidence is in You.  Help me to have the faith and heart like David that despite of the problems or troubles in my life, I can be sure that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Help me to seek Your teaching when troubles come.  Help me to open my heart for correction when my enemies surround me or problems just keep piling up on me.  Teach me Lord, I am willing to learn.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!
