Title: For the Director of Music.  Of David the Servant of the Lord.
Scripture: Psalm 36:1 – 12

God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
David wrote in this chapter as a messenger of the Lord and no longer one that prays or presenting his own troubles or requests to the Almighty God.  In verse 1, David cleared that he had a message from God in his heart and the message is about the wicked.  God through David identified the wicked for us clearly - the wicked is one that has no fear of God before their eyes; those that flatter themselves (possibly with arrogance or plain pure confidence in themselves alone), so they don't just flatter themselves but they flatter themselves "too much" - that's the keyword.  They flatter themselves that they cannot recognize sin or hate sin anymore because they believed in themselves so much that they can not detect what is wrong and what is right.  Their words are deceitful - such as words that tells half truth and half lies or plainly, not telling the whole truth.  According to the Lord, they fail to act wisely or do good - not that they don't want to but they just fail to do so.  Before they sleep, they plot of evil things... probably think of how they can succeed more than others no matter what it takes.  They willfully commit to their wrong doing and justifies the wrongs they have done.  I can sense that in the first few verses of this chapter, David is somehow correcting our perception of wickedness.  We have this understanding that a wicked person is pure evil yet, in the definition that David just said and the elaboration we came up with above, we can clearly see that a person can look "good" by nature but there can be wickedness inside that person.  And when I come to think about this and reflect in my own life, i would say I am guilty of this wickedness at one point or another.
But the great thing about David is that he is never cynical or negative.  He never ends his psalm with the worst but always end it with positive and the truth.  In verse 5, God through David showed His Grace by talking about His love for us all.  Despite of the wickedness He just described, which we are all guilty of one way or another, He then continued on by speaking about His love for us that reaches the heavens and His faithfulness that reaches the skies.  That's how long or how deep or how strong God's love and faithfulness to us His children.  No one and nothing has reached the heavens yet nor the skies and no one or no instrument can measure its depth or height, which in a way, God is telling us His love is without measure. David continued on by talking about God's righteousness and justice not to all the more alienate us but to show us that God's justice and righteousness will cover our wickedness within.  That's why at the end of verse 6, David said, "...You, Lord, preserve both people and animals."  God will preserve us despite of our wickedness within; His righteousness is more than enough to cover the evil inside us!  Hallelujah!  Truly God's unfailing love is priceless and we can take refuge in Him; feast on the abundance of His house for with Him is the fountain of life and in His light, our eyes are opened.
In verse 10, David said to the Lord out of the abundance of joy in his heart to continue His love to those who knows Him (in short to all of us - despite of the sins in us), and His righteousness to the upright in heart.  Again, David spoke of God's unconditional love and righteousness, which are essentials for us - not to punish us or pay the consequences of our sins but the truth is that the righteousness of God and His justice covers all the things we did wrong because of what Jesus did on the cross.  For truly, God is the source of the fountain of life and when we drink from Him, we will see the light in His light!  Hallelujah!  I hope that I was able to simplify this truth.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Thank You for Your amazing love and Grace.  I know that I do not deserve it yet here You are, willingly giving it to me.  Lord I now understand that no matter what I do, how many times I do what is right, I still belong to that category of wickedness You defined but it was because of Your great love for me that I am made righteous and that my life is preserved.  So every living in me is receiving life from You and You alone, therefore I am in debt to You always.  Lord, I am grateful for this amazing love and I may not fully understand the depth of Your love, I pray Lord that You show me each day as I desire to know more about it Lord.  in Jesus' Name I pray, Amen!
