Title: For the Director of Music. Of the Sons of Korah.  A Psalm

Scripture: Psalm 47-:1 – 9

God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:

→ This chapter is a psalm of joy and encouragement.  The writer seems to aim to lift the spirits up of the people.  He or she encourages everyone to be of joy, to shout to God with cries of joy in fact.  For what reason?  For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth.  seems like this author is reminding everyone to stop moping around and remember that God is awesome!  The writer was eager to remind the people who God is!  Emphasizing on His power by highlighting that He is the God who subdued nations under us, peoples under our feet.  The God who chose our inheritance for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loved.  Now that is our God!  The God who did all of this for our sake and this author is reminding us once again of the God we serve; the God on our side! 

The writer spoke of God who ascended amid shouts of joy, amid the sounding of trumpets...so we ought to sing praises to Him, to our King so He may show Himself and be exalted in our praise.  Now wait a minute, this just hits me... does this mean that if we feel like God is hiding or if he is far away... what we can do is Praise Him so that He will ascend from our shouts of joy?  Wow!  What an amazing revelation!  That's why, the previous chapter spoke of being still and knowing that HE is God and exalt Him...because in a time when God is silent, we ought to be still, know that HE is God and exalt Him for He ascends in the midst of our shouts of Joy!  Hallelujah!  That's why praise is important!  We ought to praise God every day!  The power of Praise indeed :)

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, amazing God and Lord.  I am amazed of Your great plans.  You have taught me to be still in difficult times, to know that You are God and in control, and exalt You because of the knowledge. And in the midst of my praise, my worship, my shouts of Joy because You are God, You will ascend!  Hallelujah!  What an amazing truth!  You rise up in our praises and so that's why, when things go wrong, we ought to be still, know that You are God and exalt You!  Then You will rise up in power and deliver us!  Hallelujah!  Such an amazing and powerful truth Lord.  Thank You for revealing this to me and for showing me that I can be strong even if I am weak, all I need to do is to praise You!  Glory to You Jesus.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!
