Title: For the Director of Music. To the Tunes of “Lilies.” Of the Sons of
Korah. A Maskil. A Wedding Song
Scripture: Psalm 45-:1 – 17
God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
→ This psalm, I believe was not
written by David. The writer is probably
the same writer that wrote the previous chapter...or not. But this psalm is a wedding song! A chapter of celebration of union. The writer could have written this literally
for a woman about to be married to a king or it could mean something else. As I read thru the words of this writer what
struck me is his illustration of the groom.
Cleary the writer himself is struck by him - why do I say so? Well at the start of the verse, the writer
said, "My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the
king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer." This tells me that the writer wrote this
psalm not for the bride but for the groom who was the King. He said he his heart was stirred by a noble
theme - so he delighted in what he did (the writing of this psalm as he recited
his verses for the king..so he the words he wrote, he wrote for the king and
his heart was stirred by a noble theme when he spoke of the words he wrote to
the king, he even went on by saying that his tongue is the pen of a skillful
writer because literally he was inspired in doing this. So this is a person writing about the union
of the king to a bride...in other words, the union of the King of kings, our
Lord, to us, His bride.
From verses 2, the writer spoke of
the King. How he is most excellent and
anointed with Grace for God has blessed him forever - this is having the
thought that there was really a "man" groom but for the sake of our
topic, God is the King mentioned in this chapter, and we are His bride. Truly, God is most excellent and He is Grace
and blessed forever so the words that the writer wrote still holds truth.
The writer continued on declaring
what is fitting for the groom; the groom should be clothed with splendor and
majesty. He rides victoriously for the
cause of truth, humility, and justice - which again are all true for our Lord
God Almighty! Then the writer spoke of
the power and might of the King that his enemies will fall beneath His feet,
which again came to pass as God has trampled down His enemies in the victory of
the cross. Then the writer spoke of His
throne lasting forever with a scepter of justice representing His kingdom.
Again these words described our King - Our Great Lord!
But note in verse 7, the writer
spoke of God loving righteousness and hating wickedness therefore, He has set
His bride above all by anointing His bride with the oil of joy! Wow!
God did this to us! Because of
God's hate towards wickedness, He made sure that we, His bride, are set apart
and anointed with the oil of Joy. now
this led me into thinking the importance of joy - well, God's oil of joy to be
exact! With how the words are written,
it sounded like to avoid wickedness; God has set us apart and anointed us with
oil of joy! So His anointing of oil of
joy is crucial in walking in righteousness.
There's a conscious decision to walk the path of righteousness but to
stay there, it is important to receive God's anointing oil of joy! Amazing!
Thank You Jesus for giving us the fuel to stay and keep our decision to
follow You! The best part of this all,
God does not only sets us apart and anoints us with His oil of joy but He
clothes us with fragrant robes and the music of strings will make us glad and
we are surrounded by honored women as written in verses 8 to 9. What a wonderful role to be God's bride!
This writer even gave advised to
the bride in verse 10, he said to listen carefully and forget others but honor
only the King by the beauty within us, which the King Himself also provided us
for He is our Lord. Many will seek us
and bring us gift but all the gifts provided is for the use of pleasing the
King. And even others or people to help us
in preparing us to meet the King will come with us and enter the Palace of the
King with joy and gladness. So people
will serve and beautify us with joy and gladness for it is all for the pleasure
of the King. I can connect this with the
Pastors, teachers, evangelists, Prophet, and Apostles who brought the good news
and teaches us the right path so they are our helpers in preparing us to enter
the palace to be with the King!
Hallelujah!
How privilege to be the bride of
the King for she will live in the memory of all generations and nations will
praise her forever and ever. Hallelujah! Thank You Jesus for making me Your bride :)
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Great and Mighty
God. The Lord of All and the King of all
kings! what a great privilege it is to
me to be chosen and become Your bride. I
am amazed that I am even picked out of the many beautiful women that You can
choose from. Thank You Lord because Your
love keeps me away from wickedness and You have anointed me with Your oil of
Joy that I may remain in the path of righteousness and set apart from the
rest. Thank You Jesus for the great
privilege. I love you and I await the
time to enter Your palace and pleased You with the beauty inside me, which You
have given Yourself to me. In Jesus'
Name, Amen!
