Title: For the Director of Music. With Stringed
Instruments. Of David.
Scripture: Psalm 61:1 – 8
God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
→ This chapter is just a short one
but just like many of David's psalms, it is a cry for help. This made me think, David has written a lot
of "cry for help" psalms to God and one can argue that the Lord did not
or made him suffer for a time before answering his prayers. Though, that's one way to look at it but in
my own opinion, I am amazed with the Lord and David. The Lord loves David so much, he was the man
after His heart and definitely, based on the life story of David, he had a big
role in God's plan. God hiding Himself
from David or not acting instantly, is not something easy for the Lord. In fact, I believe that every time David
wrote his psalms of help, God's heart was breaking but at the same time He was
pleased (again this is just my own opinion).
God's heart was breaking because He wanted so much to help David but had
to restrain Himself because there's a perfect time for everything and now is
not the time yet. But He was pleased at
the same time because here HE sees His son remaining faithful and steadfast
despite of His silent. In David's case,
his faith continued to grow every time he wrote or spoke of his Psalms to the
Lord. So in truth, David was growing
spiritually all the while that God was silent in his prayers. But look at David, it seemed like his psalms
are getting stronger and stronger in the Lord.
In this chapter, we see how confident and assured David was that God is
his ultimate refuge and no one else. He
revealed his innermost desire and that is to dwell in His tent forever and take
refuge in Him like a son longing for his mother's embrace and protection. Despite of God's silence, David was sure that
God heard his cries and vows. And David
asked for God to appoint His love and faithfulness to him. So despite of the troubles and the miseries
or issues around David at that time, he is sure that God hears him, all his
prayers and he asked that God appoints him His love and faithfulness. How many of us can say the same or act the
same as David when things are opposite to what we expect life is with the
Lord? I hope we have the same assurance
and confidence like David did every day in our lives no matter what the
circumstances are or the experiences we have.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, amazing God and mighty
warrior! Thank You for such a wonderful
revelation for teaching me to be steadfast and faithful in You even in the
darkest of times. Thank You because You
truly are preparing all of us for what is to come. Thank You Lord for keeping me safe and on the
right path. Jesus give me wisdom on how
to deal with life daily that I may never go astray despite of the circumstances
I have in my life. Lead me Lord and
develop in me the confidence and assurance like David had in You. In Jesus' Name, Amen!
