Title: For the Director of Music. Of the Sons of Korah.  According to alamoth. A Song
Scripture: Psalm 46-:1 – 11

God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
This chapter is written as a song and what a joyous song this is!  Every word speaks of certainty and assurance of safety.  The writer wrote with great confidence that God is his fortress.  When we speak of fortress, we're talking about a heavily protected and impenetrable building or a person or thing not susceptible to outside influence or disturbance.  So no matter what chaos or mess there is around us, God is our fortress!  God is not susceptible to any outside influence or disturbance!  He is our stronghold that nothing or no one can break into, that's why the writer of this psalm spoke of such great certainty because he knew that God is impenetrable so he is safe in God.
The writer started by declaring God as his refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble!  Wow!  What an amazing realization and testimony this is!  Having God, our stronghold, impenetrable of anything, as our refuge and strength and our ever-present help in trouble.  Wow!  Such great and powerful support we have!  In fact, it is all we need to be safe no matter what trouble we are in.  That's why in verse 2, the writer said, "Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea...etc (until verse 3)" - Everything this writer wrote as an example of chaos or mess are all uncontrollable!  Can you do anything if the earth give way?  Can we do anything if the mountains fall into the heart of the sea?  Or the waters roar and foam or the mountains quake with their surging?  NO!  Yet this writer says, do not fear because God is our refuge, our strength and our ever present help in trouble!  Amazing!  Hallelujah!
In verse 4 - 7, the writer spoke of a city of God whose streams make glad, whose holy place is where the Most High dwells; God is in this city and it will not fall for God is her help!  So we ought to aim to be in that city!  The city of the Lord because in it we are safe no matter if the kingdoms on earth fall or the nations are in uproar.  Inside the city of God, we are safe so our goal is to live in that city.  This somehow tells me that the writer knows that earth, this place, is not our home.  He knew that his destination is to go back home, to the city of God, and that is our destination as well.
The writer possibly witnessed the “amazingness” and power of the Almighty God to even have the words to describe His Glory!  Through the Holy Spirit, these words came out from him but I believe that as the Holy Spirit led him to write these words, he, himself, experienced God's glory!  Well, to have the Holy Spirit leading you is already a powerful experience.  That's why his words are fit and accurately described what God can do and demonstrated His greatness.
In verse 10, the writer said, "He says (referring to God), "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." - Wow!  This is another amazing revelation!  Many people use this verse but it lacks the remaining of the verse.  People tend to hold onto the truth about being still and knowing that God is in control, yet the verse does not end there.  It says that God will be exalted among the nations, God will be exalted in the earth - these are the end of that verse; which means, we are to exalt Him too!  So in a chaotic time of our lives, we are to be still, know that He is God and exalt Him!  So three things here... not just being still and know that He is God!  We ought to be still because He is God and because He is God, we are to exalt Him.  Praise God!

Prayer:
Wow Lord, I am dumbfounded today (not sure if i used the right word but I'm sure you understand what i truly mean).  I am speechless and amazed of the greatness of Your word!  I am so blessed to have You as my fortress that despite of the chaos around me, I can be certain of my safety and peace because You are my refuge, my strength and my help in trouble!  Lord thank You because You have given me the desire to live in Your city, where the streams make glad.  I can't wait to live there Lord; away from this cruel world - dark and wicked place but into Your dwelling place where You are live.  Lord thank You because You have shown me that being still and knowing that You are God is something that I can hold onto in difficult times of my life and so I will exalt You among all the nations, I will exalt You in the earth.  Lord thank You for reminding me that being still and knowing that You are God - does not stop there.  I must understand that whole verse!  And I must exalt You too!  Help me Lord in applying this in my life and give me wisdom to know how to be still in the knowledge that You are God and in control so I will exalt You!  In Jesus' Name, Amen!
