TITLE: David’s House and Family

Scripture: 1 Chronicles 14:1 - 17 

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, along with cedar logs,stonemasons and carpenters to build a palace for him. And David knew that the Lord had established him as king over Israel and that his kingdom had been highly exalted for the sake of his people Israel. In Jerusalem David took more wives and became the father of more sons and daughters. These are the names of the children born to him there: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 7 Elishama, Beeliada[a] and Eliphelet.

When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they went up in full force to search for him, but David heard about it and went out to meet them. Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim; so David inquired of God: “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?” The Lord answered him, “Go, I will deliver them into your hands.” So David and his men went up to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, “As waters break out, God has broken out against my enemies by my hand.” So that place was called Baal Perazim.[b] The Philistines had abandoned their gods there, and David gave orders to burn them in the fire. Once more the Philistines raided the valley; so David inquired of God again, and God answered him, “Do not go directly after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the poplar trees. As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move out to battle, because that will mean God has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.” So David did as God commanded him, and they struck down the Philistine army, all the way from Gibeon to Gezer. So David’s fame spread throughout every land, and the Lord made all the nations fear him.

NOTES:

> When God calls us, He confirms and assures us of His calling.  Just like David, he knew that God had established him as king over Israel and that his kingdom had been highly exalted for the sake of His people Israel.  So David had no doubt of it!  He took the position because God assured him of it.  God told him, the people elected him and i believe, he wants it too.  So when we are walking in God’s plan, we will be 100% sure of the path that we take.  We will know it, the people will confirm it to us and they know it too, but most of all, God will assure us of our calling.  That’s how God works.  Amen!  But despite of this truth, David learned from his past action and made sure that he inquired of God in every move he makes.  After making decisions with the people’s consent but not God (bringing the ark to Jerusalem), David made sure that every time he made a decision, he consults the Lord first.  And so when the Philistines went up in full force to search David and raided the VAlley of Rephaim, David consulted God about his actions.  But when the Philistines didn’t listen and still raided the valley again, David made sure to inquire of God again before taking any actions.  And so God, i believe, was pleased of it and showed David and the whole world that He is fighting ahead for them and David was made known as God’s king and all nations feared him.  Note that when God moved, nothing or no one can ever go against us!  When He moves, everyone will know His power and glory and everyone will fear Him including His people.  Let us make God a priority!  Only when David put God first that God moved ahead of His people.  And David was lifted up for God’s Name.  Let us make God number one in our lives and let Him move ahead of us.  Be assured that God speaks and will confirm His words and when we make Him the priority, He will move like no other and people around the globe will know us because of God!

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, how marvelous and great You are!  Thank You because when You call us, You know our doubts, our questions, and concerns...so You find a way to assure us, by confirming it to us and giving us the support we need from the people around us and we ourselves desires it.  So Your hand works greatly in uniting everything and everyone in Your will and plan.  Thank You Lord!  Lord thank You because when we make You the priority of our lives, everything works out perfectly.  And people will know us because of Your glory and power.  In the end, our lives will become an instrument for Your honor and power and glory to be seen by the people around us.  Help me Lord to be that instrument.  I do not wish to be known and I am grateful if people will come to know me but my heart desires more for them to know You so let me be an instrument for this to come to pass Lord.  I want to see Your glory and power and honor declared and proclaimed by every tongue, every lips from every nation.  Everyone singing or saying, Hallelujah!  Oh What a sight will that be Lord.  I long for that day :)  Let it be that I will be part of the process of leading this desire to be a reality in the world.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
