Title: For the Director of Music. With Stringed Instruments. A Psalm Of Asaph. A Song.
Scripture: Psalm 76:1 – 12
God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
→ This is a psalm of Praise and
worship - one of the most beautiful psalms in the book from Asaph. He spoke of nothing but praise to God. Asaph started this beautiful psalm by saying
that God is renowned in Judah, in Israel His Name is great. Let's stop for a minute and internalize these
words. Judah is a tribe but it also
means "praise" so we can learn that God is renowned or known in
"Praise" - so how will people know God? How will He be known to men? Through Praise and worship! Hallelujah!
This is the reason why we are to sing His praises daily because this is
how God will be known to all the earth!
Israel on the otherhand means "God contended" in another
meaning I found; it speaks of "Rising in the splendor of God" oh
wow! So even in a place or person who
rises in the splendor of God, God's Name is great in him or that place! In verse 3, Asaph spoke of God breaking the
flashing arrows, the shields and the swords, and the weapons of war. So God is known through our praise and
worship and to those who rise in splendor of Him, His Name is great. Then in verse 2, Asaph spoke of Zion, God's
dwelling place and we are the temple of the Lord so in us He dwells and in us,
He breaks the weapons of war. So this is
why, there is no weapon in heaven or earth that can prosper against us because
God dwells in us for in us, His Name is great and He is known to men thru our
praise and worship! Hallelujah!3
Asap then spoke of God's splendor,
glory and power from verses 4 to 6. So
we ought to do the same because God is known through our praise!
Asaph is certain without a doubt
that only God is to be feared and no one else because He holds judgment and
controls all. So in verse 11, Asaph
encouraged us to make vows to the Lord and to fulfill them; to bring gifts to
Him for He can break the spirit of any leader or ruler and He is feared by the
kings of the earth. So we only need to
ultimate fear the Lord - not in the sense that we will be afraid of Him and run
away, but in the sense that we will be afraid to displease Him or disrespect
Him or to do anything against Him for we know that He holds the true power and
our salvation.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, great and mighty
King! Thank You for a wonderful
revelation - A new message of understanding of our praise and worship. It is through our praise of You that You are
made known to men and we, Your dwelling place, is made to rise in Your splendor
because Your Name is great in us. Lord
help me to make this a habit; my every day routine to praise and worship Your
Name all the days of my life. Thank You
Lord for You are in control and You hold my life in Your hands. I love You!
In Jesus' Name, Amen!
