Title: A Psalm Of Asaph.
Scripture: Psalm 82:1 – 8
God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
→ This chapter is a short one but
Asaph's words showed commitment, passion and faith. Remember that this is the time when God is
silent. When the Lord hid His face or
turned His back on His people. So Israel
is oppressed and going thru a difficult time.
The wicked are getting stronger than ever while the righteous found
themselves in a hopeless situation because God is silent. In a time like this, the easiest option is to
quit your faith and just give in to the temptation...but here we see Asaph, we
hear his words that reveals his faith in God.
His words show that despite of God's silence, it doesn't change that God
is God and He is powerful and He can ruin the wicked and bring judgment in
their lives. Now, imagine yourself in a
situation where you don't have any proof or any evidence that can backup your
claim or your faith in the Lord - will you remain in your faith like
Asaph? Will you fight for what you
believe in like Asaph pushed and pressed onto?
Will you stand by the Lord even if it seems like He is not standing with
you? These are difficult questions but
these are questions we ought to think about and really ponder on. May we have the conviction, the faith, the
trust in God and the commitment to stand firm in our faith when this time comes
in our lives.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, amazing God and mighty
King! Lord today I can say that I am
strong in my faith because You are with me and I know it, I feel it too! But Lord, I know that time will come when I
will no longer be able to feel You or see a glimpse of hope or of Your glory
and this will be the test of my faith.
Lord I know that I cannot speak of the future but every day I will
choose to believe and walk in faith and walk in trust in You whether or not I
see a glimpse of Your glory or the works of Your hands in my life. Because me not seeing them, does not prove
that You are not there! Or that You are
not working in our midst. Help me to
believe and to have faith like Asaph that despite of what my eyes tell me, my
heart and my mind will always know that You are there. In Jesus' Name, Amen!
