Title: For the Director of Music.  According to gittith.  Of Asaph.
Scripture: Psalm 81:1 – 16

God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
This chapter Asaph spoke of the importance of "listening".  The psalm started with a celebration.  Asaph encouraged everyone to sing to God, to shout aloud to the God of Jacob; he urged the music to be played, to strike the timbrel and play the harp and lyre.  Why?  Because the day of festivity has come!  And on that day, God delivered and saved His people.  Now, Asaph could have spoken of their actual deliverance on this chapter or it could be that he is speaking of the deliverance God has made for them in Egypt.  Whichever deliverance or redemption, Asaph was referring to, the important factor is to celebrate it! wether they are celebrating in joy for the salvation they have today or years before.  This is to remind us that when we speak of victories whether in the past, today or in the future, we are to celebrate and speak aloud in praise and worship to God.
Note though that by verse 11, Asaph pointed out the cause of God's people's doomed or ruin.  It's as simple as "not listening".  The Lord calls out to us but we hear Him not.  God spoke of not having any foreign gods but we, the people continued to turn our ears from it.  We continue to do our own ways and not hearing or following the main commandment of God which was present from the 10 commandments with Moses to the 2 greatest commandments from Jesus.  That is to put God as the only God in our lives and this simple command - we fail to listen and obey which leads us to our destruction.  The hearts of men are stubborn and do not submit to God.
But Asaph also through the words of the Lord written of what God would do if we humble ourselves and turn ourselves in to Him.  Verse 13 spoke of how quickly God would subdue all our enemies and turn His hands on them when we do so.  But how come we don’t?  How come we stay stubborn and hardheaded?  When the simplest answer is to listen, obey and surrender to God.  We want the Lord to help us and save us but there's only one thing to do...submit or surrender to God and let Him be your only God. Then we would be fed with the finest wheat with honey from the rock and we would be satisfied.  What more can we ask for?

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding me this simple yet profound and looks like the core of my faith and walk with You.  Surrender and having You alone as the God of my life.  Lord I know that I am stubborn, I know that I can be hardheaded at times.  in fact, I can be rebellious too.  But Lord, give me a humble heart and let me see the truth or the bigger picture of all things that I may humble myself and give in to You.  I surrender Lord, every day I make that decision to surrender and let You be the Lord of my life.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!
