Title: For the Director of Music. To the Tune of “The Lilies of the Covenant.” Of
Asaph. A Psalm.
Scripture: Psalm 80:1 – 19
God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
→ Asaph in this chapter is calling
upon the Shepherd of Israel, identifying themselves as the sheep of the
Lord. Here we see that Asaph, requested
for God to shine upon them. How amazing
it is that the glimpse or the light of the Lord upon us is able to restore us
fully. Just a flicker of His light can
deliver us from our present situation today.
And this is the reason why, God said for us to let our light shine to
the earth so that it will be restored fully.
Because the light we have in us is God's and His light shining on us can
restore us fully. In verse 4 to 6, we
see Asaph describing Israel's current situation. Israel was supposed to be one the wrestle
with God and won or one who risen up in the splendor of the Lord, yet in these
verses, Asaph spoke of Israel feeding in bread of tears and drinking tears by
the bowlful. Israel becoming an object
of derision to their neighbors and their enemies mock them. So their situation doesn't depict the
splendor of God nor does it shows victory at all. So Asaph, prayed for restoration and with the
light of God shining even just a glimpse in our lives will restore our full
being. In verses 9 to 15, Asaph
remembered what the Lord did to Israel in Egypt and plead for God's hand to
rest on the man at His right hand. Asaph
seek restoration and revival so that they will be saved!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus amazing God and mighty
Lord. Thank You for another reminder of
being faithful and steadfast. Being
strong and committed to You despite of whatever the circumstances in our
surroundings are. Help me Lord to be
reminded of this at all times and to remember all the great things You have
done in our lives that will strengthen me in the dark times of my life. Thank You Lord because a glimpse of Your
light, just a small shine of You in me will restore humanity and the world. Give me wisdom Lord to remember all Your
great deeds in my life. In Jesus' Name,
Amen!
