Title: The Road to Life Is
a Disciplined Life
Scriptures: Proverbs 10:15
- 21
God’s
Message/Promise/Commands:
What a hard but powerful truth God has in-store for us
today! To sum it up, the road to life is
a disciplined life! Very true! But not many people want to take the
disciplined life. It is easier to be
free or to do as one please rather than take the high road. Yet Solomon advises us that the road to a
rich life, a happy life, a good life, is a disciplined one! One thing I noticed in these verses that
Solomon pointed out one major part of having a disciplined life...I guess it's
one of the most important part of having a disciplined life because Solomon has
reminded us of this chapter after chapter...and that's pertaining to our use of
words. Here we see, Solomon speaks of
liars secretly hoard hatred, fools openly spread slander. Again, these are all pertaining to the use of
our mouth. In verse 19, Solomon says,
the more talk, the less truth; the wise measure their words. In verses 20 to 21, Solomon says, "The
speed of a good person is worth waiting for; the blabber of the wicked is
worthless. The talk of a good person is
rich fare for many, but chatterboxes die of an empty heart." I don't know
with you but I find it interesting that when Solomon speaks of a disciplined
life, he specifically pointed out the words that comes out of our mouth. I guess, the mouth could be the hardest to
control because at times we just say what we want to say without really meaning
it. But also, the words of our mouth is
one of the most powerful weapon or tool God has given us. As mentioned yesterday, our words have the
power to kill or give life and so I think, God is telling us that one of the
most important part that we need to discipline is our mouth.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding me that my words are
powerful and I should learn to discipline what comes out ofmy mouth. Help me Lord to live a disciplined life and
to ensure that only words of life comes out of my mouth as You designed it
should be. In Jesus' Name, Amen!

Proverbs 10:17 (The Message Version)
"The road to life is a disciplined life; ignore
correction and you're lost for good."
Today, let us be open to correction and change. We are all a work in progress and every day,
God who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of
Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). So let
us be humble and embrace change!
