Title: Nothing But Sin and Bones.
Scriptures: Proverbs 5:1 – 14

God’s Message/Promise/Commands:
Today, Solomon has another great warning for us all.  He spoke of a woman - a seductive woman to be exact with words so sweet and soft but she will then gravel or bury you alive.  So Solomon's advice is to listen to his words and don't treat them casually; to keep away from such woman, even stay out of her neighborhood.  Now, let's pause here for a moment as Solomon is teaching us something crucial.  This tells me that this seductive woman, her power is so strong and very influential that Solomon adviced us to not only stay away from her but to her whole neighborhood.  So her surroundings, her whole neighborhood is under her spell.  So let's look into this in a deeper understanding...I know that this passage is about the sin of adultery but somehow it tells me that this is more than just one specific sin.  For me, the seductive woman represents sin.  God through Solomon is telling us to stay away from sin, in fact, God is telling us to keep our distance.  It literally means to put a gap between you and the sin...a long enough distance to be safe.  And God is not just saying keep your distance from the sin but even to its neighborhood.  So anything and anyone you know that is associated to such sin, keep yourself away from them.  This is the word of the Lord!

For example rebellion, the act of rebellion is the actual sin..it is the seductive woman.  However entertaining the thought of rebellion, nurturing it and dwelling on the negativity are the woman's neighborhood.  So we not only stay away from the act of the sin but we must distance ourselves from the thought of it too.  I hope this is clear.

Anyway, Solomon said to keep our distance away from sin.  Let's be firm with that decision and not allow our curiosity or weaknesses to overpower our decision so we won't have any regrets.  I also want to point out verse 14, Solomon said, "My life is ruined!  I haven’t one blessed thing to show for my life!” - This is what sin can do to us...it will rob us of the blessings in our lives that we won't have anything to show for to give glory to our King...our lives will be ruined!  So be wise and see pass the alluring and seductive coat of sin and know that it is nothing but sin and bones.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, great and glorious Lord!  Thank You for such a great warning in our lives.  Help me Lord to think this through each day that I may not be tempted or give in to the seductive woman (sin) in my life.  Help me to stay away from her and to keep my distance away from her neighborhood.  Guard my thoughts Lord and warn me when I am too indulge with my thought that is no longer pleasing to You.  Give me the wisdom and the strength to run away from her and run towards You instead.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!

Proverbs: 5:10-11 (The Message version)

"Why should you allow strangers to take advantage of you? Why be exploited by those who care nothing for you? You don’t want to end your life full of regrets, nothing but sin and bones."

King Solomon talks about sin when he refers to the strangers in our lives.  We are all created good by God - our nature is good and sin has no place in us, they are the strangers in our lives, so do not let sin take advantage of you today.

Have a great morning!
