Title: Like A Deer From the Hunter
Scriptures: Proverbs 6:1 - 5
God’s Message/Promise/Commands:
Today,
Solomon is teaching us a very powerful wisdom that we all ought to apply in our
lives. One of biggest problems of the
"good" people today is that they don't know how to say no but you
know what, God knows our weaknesses and has warned us through the words of King
Solomon. In chapter 6 verses 1 to 5
only...we learn one very practical wisdom from the wisest man ever lived on
earth. He said to run like a deer from
the hunter. To fully understand this,
let's read it again. King Solomon said,
if you've gone into hock with your neighbor or locked yourself into a deal with
a stranger... If you're unable to say "no" and found yourself trap in
a situation that you don't want to...King Solomon advices us to run like a deer
from the Hunter. Many times, we don't
want to disappoint others and we tend to say yes at everything others asked us
to do then end up getting all mess up because now we feel burdened and
pressured to do what we committed to do and its impact in our lives is no
longer productive nor it is positive...sounds familiar? Well, King Solomon says not to waste a minute
and get yourself out of that mess. Now,
I believe that this wisdom is not just about deals or promises we made that are
not right like the outcome is wrong or a sin...but note that Solomon says,
"if you've impulsively promised the shirt off your back and now find
yourself shivering out in the cold." - this means that the promise made
was initially with the intention to help someone else but then in the end, the
person helping becomes the person in need of help...then Solomon is saying that
the person is in a bad mess and that person must get rid of himself out of that
mess fast! He even said to act
desperate, don't procrastinate, and run like a deer from the hunter! Wow!
This is such an eye-opening wisdom...because we, Christians, have this
mentality that helping is good...and yes it is...in most cases, but when
helping someone puts yourself in danger or being in a situation where the
impact is negative in your spirit, in your body, mind, or soul - then that's
putting yourself shirtless in a freezing cold night.
Prayer:
Lord
Jesus, what a very powerful wisdom! I am
so amazed of this truth because I know I am guilty, most Christians are. We have the mentality to help even in times
when we no longer have anything left for ourselves. We forgot that we are to love others in the
same way we love ourselves...not love others and care less of ourselves. Lord thank You for reminding me of this very
important word. Indeed, You truly love
us to remind us to love ourselves too.
Thank You Lord. In Jesus' Name,
Amen!
