Title: A Whack on the Head of a Fool
Scriptures: Proverbs 17:1 - 16

God’s Message/Promise/Commands:

Amazing morning with Jesus!  I have decided to make that as my morning greeting from now on, "Amazing morning with Jesus!" I believe it's a great way to greet someone - to expect an amazing morning or day with the Lord because truly, only with Jesus can we expect an amazing day/morning.  Anyway, today I read Proverbs 17:1 - 16, entitled "A Whack on the Head of a Fool" - more wise words from the Lord today.  But I have one verse that I would like to share today - verse 5, "Whoever mocks poor people insults their Creator; gloating over misfortune is a punishable crime." King Solomon has already spoken about the maltreatment we have with the poor that it directly insults the Lord but I want to focus on the 2nd part of this verse...it says "Gloating over misfortune is a punishable crime." Many of us are guilty of this.  We tend to talk about our misfortunes, our loses, how poor we are, or how difficult our lives are... to some, when there's a discussion of this among friends, it's as if, everyone is trying to point out how their loss or their misfortune is greater than the other.  Yet in verse 5, God said that gloating over our misfortune is a punishable crime!  Amen!  We are not to gloat about these things, instead we are to gloat on the Glory of the Lord!  About His goodness, Grace, love, blessings, etc.  Let our mouths become an instrument of life!  It's eye-opening for me that to speak of our misfortunes is a punishable crime - possibly because what comes out of our mouth will come to pass... so in short, we punish ourselves when we gloat about our misfortune.  So stop gloating about your loss and start speaking life!

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for a wonderful and powerful word today.  Thank You because You have showed me that gloating about my loss is a punishable crime and the truth is, I am the one punishing myself because what comes out of my mouth will soon come to pass.  Help me Lord to use my mouth to speak life only and by focusing on Your word always.  In Jesus' Name Amen!

Memory Verse Share today:
Proverbs 17:5 (The Message Version)

Whoever mocks poor people insults their Creator; gloating over misfortune is a punishable crime.

Amazing words from the Lord today!  When we speak ill/bad about others, specifically the poor, we directly insult our God but what I want to emphasize is the 2nd statement, gloating about our loss, our failures, how bad our life is, or how poor we are - is a punishable crime.  Why?  Because what we speak of will soon come to pass so in short, when we speak more of our misfortunes, we are actually punishing ourselves - basically digging our own grace!  So let's not gloat about our misfortunes today but let's gloat about God's glory, grace, love, power, provision and blessings so that more of these things will come to pass in our lives!

Be blessed everyone!
