Title: One Who Knows Much
Says Little
Scriptures: Proverbs 17:17
- 28
God’s
Message/Promise/Commands:
Amazing day with Jesus everyone! Today, God tells us the simplicity of the
truth - that if you do evil, you will reap evil; if you do well, you will reap
good. All the verses from 17 to 28 of
Chapter 17, speaks of an action (either good or bad) and its consequence; it
speaks of what we must do if we want to do what is right. God is telling us that the choice is ours but
before we made the choice, He has given us the facts! He says that a friend loves through all kinds
of weather, and families stick together in all kinds of trouble. So are you a friend today? Or a family to someone? Because if you are, then a friend loves
through all kinds of weather and a family stick together in all kinds of
trouble. This 1 verse alone, tells us
how to be a friend and a family to someone.
Next verse speaks of stupidity; how trying to get something for nothing
is stupid - clearly, if we want to take advantage or outwit someone, at times
we end up wanting to get something without working for it...then God is saying
that is stupid. And in verse 19, God
says that a person who courts sin marries trouble - so how do we court? We spend time, give it gifts, encourage it,
think about it... so if you continue to spend time with sin, give it gifts by
giving it the gift of time, think about it, nurturing it in your thoughts, then
you will end up marrying trouble. So all
the verses is about how we should act and also the consequences of our
actions.
I just want to highlight one verse in this chapter, verse
27, it says, "The one who knows much says little; an understanding person
remains calm" Such a great reminder of God to us today. We are to speak little even if we know so
much and to understand by remaining calm at all times.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your words today. Thank You for a great reminder of how we
should act as Your children and to always know that our action has
consequence. Help us Lord to choose the
right actions daily in our lives. Help
me Lord to remain calm at all times and to speak little even if I know so much
- a true mark of the wise. Give me
understanding Lord that I may remain calm every time there's a mess or chaos
around. I can do this because You are my
Rock. In Jesus' Name, Amen!

Proverbs 17:22 (The Message Version)
A cheerful disposition is good for your health; gloom and
doom leave you bone-tired.
What is your disposition today? God tells us that our disposition impacts our
health. So start the day right and
choose to be cheerful!
Have a great day!
