TITLE: Historical Records From Adam to Abraham

Scripture: 1 Chronicles 1:1 – 54

God’s Message / God’s Commands / God’s Promises:

→ Adam, Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, Noah. The sons of Noah:^[a] Shem, Ham and Japheth.

The Japhethites

The sons^[b] of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshek and Tiras. The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath^[c] and Togarmah. The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites and the Rodanites.

The Hamites

The sons of Ham: Cush, Egypt, Put and Canaan. The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabta, Raamah and Sabteka. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.  Cush was the father^[d] of Nimrod, who became a mighty warrior on earth. Egypt was the father of the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, Pathrusites, Kasluhites (from whom the Philistines came) and Caphtorites.  Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn,^[e] and of the Hittites,  Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,  Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites.

The Semites

The sons of Shem: Elam, Ashur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram. The sons of Aram:^[f] Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshek. Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber.  Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg,^[g] because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.  Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Obal,^[h] Abimael, Sheba, Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan. Shem, Arphaxad,^[i] Shelah, Eber, Peleg, Reu,  Serug, Nahor, Terah  and Abram (that is, Abraham)

The Family of Abraham

The sons of Abraham: Isaac and Ishmael.

Descendants of Hagar

These were their descendants: Nebaioth the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,  Mishma, Dumah, Massa, Hadad, Tema, ³¹ Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah. These were the sons of Ishmael.

Descendants of Keturah

The sons born to Keturah, Abraham’s concubine: Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah. The sons of Jokshan: Sheba and Dedan. The sons of Midian: Ephah, Epher, Hanok, Abida and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah.

Descendants of Sarah

Abraham was the father of Isaac. The sons of Isaac: Esau and Israel.

Esau’s Sons

The sons of Esau: Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jalam and Korah. The sons of Eliphaz: Teman, Omar, Zepho,^[j] Gatam and Kenaz; by Timna: Amalek.^[k] The sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah.

The People of Seir in Edom

The sons of Seir: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer and Dishan.  The sons of Lotan: Hori and Homam. Timna was Lotan’s sister.  The sons of Shobal: Alvan,^[l] Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam. The sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah.  The son of Anah: Dishon. The sons of Dishon: Hemdan,^[m] Eshban, Ithran and Keran.  The sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan and Akan.^[n]The sons of Dishan^[o]: Uz and Aran.

The Rulers of Edom

These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned: Bela son of Beor, whose city was named Dinhabah.  When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah succeeded him as king.  When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded him as king.  When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king. His city was named Avith.  When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah succeeded him as king.  When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river^[p] succeeded him as king.  When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Akbor succeeded him as king.  When Baal-Hanan died, Hadad succeeded him as king. His city was named Pau,^[q] and his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab. Hadad also died. The chiefs of Edom were: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, ⁵³ Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, ⁵⁴ Magdiel and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom.

NOTES:

Some people say that God has favorites but the truth is, God's love for everyone is equal.  Those who accepted His love, definitely gets everything from Him.  Those who don't, well…they still get the overflow of His love.

Reviewing the historical records from Adam to Abraham even to Esau's sons confirmed this truth to be true even more to me. Why?  Well, the records show, God working in the lives of everyone, from the root of the philistine people, to the cushites, moabites, possibly the babylonians and more.  I mean, it is written, all people originated from Adam and they are all recorded. 

When you go down to Esau's sons, you will see God indicating rulers of Edom, even before any Israelite King ever reigned.  Here it is very clear that God's love has been with His people ever since, even in the lives of the moabites, the cushites, the philitines, etc... and clearly, the edomites whom God prospered rulers from even before any Israelite King ever started their reign.  Now that's has God's love written all over it, don't you think so? So there is no favoritism from God.  He is just, He is true, He is right, and He is our God!  Hallelujah!

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, Great and Mighty God!  Everlasting Father and Reigning King of the Heaven and Earth, I thank You for Your great Love for all of us that endures forever.  Thank You because You have equal great love for all of us and You do not have any favorites.  Thank You because You are fair and You are just and You are faithful but most of all, You are my God.  Thank You for Your love just kept on overflowing every day in the lives of each one, those who believe and accept You and even to those who don’t.  Thank You because Your grace and Your favor is truly amazing!  Praise and Worship truly belongs to You and You alone.  No one else deserve it but You Lord.  Help me to see Your goodness and greatness daily in everything!  Show me Your great love and let me be a living proof of that so others will know Your love for them too.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
