His brother was named Sheresh, and his sons were Ulam and Rakem. The son of Ulam: Bedan. NOTES:
Ø  This chapter speaks of the many other tribes of Judah and you can see the marvelous division of the group of people.  We have Issachar and Benjamin, from whom the most of the fighting men came from.  The Bible spoke of them as if their clans were created to fight.  However Benjamin was also noted as the root of other descendants such as the Shuppites and Huppites.  Naphtali on the other hand, showed very few descendants and didn’t even mention of any specific trait or character for this tribe.  Manasseh is the tribe whom God spoke of race expansion.  While Ephraim on the other hand, revealed loss when he lost his sons from the native-born men of Gath.  Yet Ephraim’s lost didn’t end in tragedy for Ephraim receive a new son and his tribe built strong places and conquered many lands.  Asher was specifically described as the choice men, brave warriors and outstanding leaders.  Note that these descriptions or characters were not spoken for a reason and were also rewards or consequences of the actions taken by each tribe.  One can just wonder what Naphtali was up to during his time to make such a small and insignificant account of his tribe record.  In the end of this chapter, I realized that we are making a path for our family.  We are creating the Name and reputation of our clan, all with the help of the Lord.  So the question really lies on, what are we doing to build our Name for God today?  Do we want to be like Asher who was made known to be outstanding leaders or like Ephraim, whom a tragedy was recorded but recovered and succeed after?  Or are we satisfied to become like Naphtali who did nothing at all?  The answer is in us.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Great and Awesome King!  I am amazed of what You have given me, You have given me a wide canvass to draw or paint the kind of legacy for my lineage.  Thank You because You have given me all what I need to make a Name for You but in the end it is up to me if I want to use it the way You wanted and designed me to do so.  Help me Lord to build my Name for Your sake or my reputation for Your glory.  Help me to set the course to the path to You for my family.  I will be needing Your help to do this and so I decide today to build my life in the direction You lead me to so I may build my family’s Name for Your sake!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
