Title: The Death of Moses
Scripture: Deuteronomy 34: 1 – 12

God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho.  There the Lord showed him the whole land—from Gilead to Dan, all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea, the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar. Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it.”  And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is.  Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.

NOTES:
Ø God is a God of Vision and He satisfies!  God made sure Moses saw the land He promised, everything in it!  It was the Lord Himself who showed these lands to Moses before He died.  And He wants to show us His vision too…His vision of us, of the world, of everything He plans.  The best part is…His vision of His plans satisfies!  Moses despite of the long journey he had with the Israelites going to the Promised Land, now that he is almost there, he was not able to enter, yet the vision God showed him satisfied him and allowed him to die in peace and contentment.  This is who our God is!  He satisfies!  His vision alone can satisfy and give us peace even if we are not able to receive it.  That’s why God wants us to walk in faith because only in walking in faith can God satisfies us!  Hallelujah!  Thank You Jesus for this revelation!
Ø NOTES: The scripture says that “He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is” so God Himself buried Moses and to this day, no one knew where Moses body is!  Wow!  The intimacy between Moses and God is so amazing, that God Himself buried Moses and only He knows where Moses’ body is today.  I believe that God grieved for Moses’ death and He kept his body because Moses was no one like the others too.  – Lord, I am jealous of Your relationship with Moses – not in a negative way, but I wish to have the same closeness and even more.  With Your Son Jesus, this is made possible so thank You Lord!

Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses.  Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, who did all those signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt—to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
NOTES:
Ø God is a God of wisdom and when He appoints us, He gives us authority!  Moses was already gone and it’s time to stand up, Joshua did so with the spirit of Wisdom that he received from Moses.  So the people listened to him and did what the Lord said.
Ø God wants to have a close relationship with us – knowing Him face to face like Moses.  God, clearly, grieved for the lost of Moses and He ensured that everyone knows that no one is like His servant Moses and with the intimacy that comes with His relationship with Moses comes His signs and wonders that Moses performed in mighty power in the sight of all His people.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your desire to be close to me.  Thank You because You want to be in a relationship with me and an intimate one.  Father, I am not worthy but thru Your Son, I can have a relationship with You like no other.  In truth, reading this chapter, I feel a little jealous of Moses, I want to have similar relationship with You.  I know I can’t earn it because it will only be thru Your Grace.  Lord I want to touch Your heart and know You face to face.  Help me Lord, because my efforts are useless and it is unworthy but with Your Love and Grace, I can have a closer union with You.  Lord, thank You because Your Vision of Your Will for me and the world satisfies.  All I need is to fill my mind and heart with that vision for it satisfies.  Thank You Jesus.  Help me Lord to be strong and always see Your hands every day in my life.  I want to have an intimate relationship with You Lord for You satisfies and You provide Your wisdom and power and everlasting love to me.  In You, life is in its right order.  So let me live life in You Jesus.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
