Title: Joshua Installed as Leader
Scripture: Joshua 1:1 – 18

God’s Message / God’s Promise / God’s Commands:
After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.  Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.  No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.

NOTES:
Ø God is a God of continuous plans and directions!    He is task-oriented! God has a time for everything and He allowed a time of mourning for Moses’ death but He is focus on the goal, which is to bring His people to His promise land!  After Moses, He appointed Joshua to lead the people to Canaan.  In short, “Life goes on with Christ!”  So we can be assured that God will finish what He has started in us!  Hallelujah!
Ø God has given us success to every task He have for us!  God told Joshua that He will give him every place where his foot sets and God is saying the same thing to us, He has given us victory in every battle we face!  Thank you Jesus!
Ø God is a God of expansion and power!  The task God has for us comes not only with success and victory but also expansion of territory and power that no one will be able to stand against us for God will be with us and will never leave us so let’s get our strength and courage from Him!

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

NOTES:
Ø God is a God who commands and ensures the success of the fulfillment of the command!  God speaks the words, the task yet He also ensures the fulfillment of that task!  What an amazing God!  He assures us of His presence in the tasks He gives.  He makes it His personal goal that whatever He says we do, we do!  He provides us what we need to fulfill it, HIS WORDS!
Ø God desires spending time with us day and night!  God wants us to meditate in His words day and night, not only so we can obey and be filled with His presence everytime but also because He wants to be filled with our presence too.  He wants to spend time with us and enjoys our time getting to know Him.

So Joshua ordered the officers of the people: 11 “Go through the camp and tell the people, ‘Get your provisions ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the Lord your God is giving you for your own.’” But to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said, “Remember the command that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you after he said, ‘The Lord your God will give you rest by giving you this land.’ Your wives, your children and your livestock may stay in the land that Moses gave you east of the Jordan, but all your fighting men, ready for battle, must cross over ahead of your fellow Israelites. You are to help them  until the Lord gives them rest, as he has done for you, and until they too have taken possession of the land the Lord your God is giving them. After that, you may go back and occupy your own land, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you east of the Jordan toward the sunrise.” Then they answered Joshua, “Whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.  Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses. Whoever rebels against your word and does not obey it, whatever you may command them, will be put to death. Only be strong and courageous!”
NOTES:
Ø God is a God of preparation!  He gets His people ready to conquer and possess the land He promised!  He guided Joshua to ready His people to conquer the land.  He instructed them to get their provisions ready, which by the way, God also provided for them.  And He reminded Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh to remember their promise to fight with the rest of the Israelites in conquering the land God has promised, which they obeyed.  Let us dwell in God as He will prepare us to receive the promises He has for us!

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for You are a God of plans and directions!  You are task oriented which only confirms that You will always complete what You have started in me!  Hallelujah!  Thank You Lord because You have given me success and victory over the tasks You called me to do and with is comes expansion of territory and power because You will be with us all thru out the task.  Thank You Father because You make the command but You also ensures the fulfillment of that command!  Thank You for You truly knows our effort and strength and in You, they are all worthless.  So we are to depend on You and spend our time with You and Your words day and night so we may have Your strength and courage to conquer the promises You have for us!  Praise the Lord.  Thank You because in all of this, You prepare us to receive Your commands and victory to it.  Holy Spirit, help me to spend my time with You as many times as possible.  In Jesus’ Name!
