Title: Check Yourself First
Scriptures: Proverbs 30:7-9

God’s Message/Promise/Commands:

Amazing Day with Jesus!  Proverbs 30:7-9 says...

7 God, I ask you to do two things for me before I die. 8 Don’t let me tell lies. And don’t make me too rich or too poor—give me only enough food for each day. 9 If I have too much, I might deny that I need you, Lord. But if I am too poor, I might steal and bring shame to the name of my God.

These wise words came from Agur Son of Jakeh.  His prayer is not to protect him from liars or protecting him from becoming a victim of greedy/corrupt people instead he prayed him not to become one.   People are so fed up and disgusted of people who lie to get what they want and those who are corrupt because they are driven by greed and ambition that they don't consider/care on anyone in their way.  But we failed to realize that we are all guilty of being a liar and corrupt.  For sure there was a time in our lives that we lied for whatever reason, whether it was a white lie or a full blown deceiving lie.  And Wikipedia defines corruption as is a form of dishonest or unethical conduct by a person entrusted with a position of authority, often to acquire personal benefit.  How many times have we conducted inappropriately towards our younger siblings or anyone younger than us or friends and family to get what we want?  It can be as menial as tricking them into doing something silly to entertain us or just for laughs?  Isn't that a form of corruption too?  So before we judged others for their evil ways, let's look at the mirror like Agur here, because we may be looking in the eye at another Binay, Mar, Duterte or Poe.

Happy Thursday!

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for a wonderful message.  Help me Lord to apply this.  I know it will be hard on my own.  It is so easy to judge or criticize others but so hard to see my own mishaps.  Help me Lord to see my corrupt ways and change them.  Give me wisdom Lord on how to act appropriately to others and not become dishonest or unethical or selfish.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!
