Title: Does Hard Work Bring Happiness
Scriptures: Ecclesiastes 2:1-3

God’s Message/Promise/Commands:

Amazing day with Jesus! Ecclesiastes 2:4-11

King Solomon after realizing that having fun does not bring happiness, sought to do hard work and see if this bring him happiness.  He did great things and earned a lot of money for himself.  People served him, his wealth and territory just grew and grew and he had everything he needed and wanted, yet in the end, this too did not bring him happiness and became a waste of his time.  This tells me that man is never satisfied.  Our human nature seeks to have more and is never content.  Whether it's about having fun or doing hard work and gaining so many achievements - we are hard to please.  We keep on seeking for more and more.  Thus Solomon says in verse 11, ...It was like trying to catch the wind.  There is nothing to gain from anything we do in this life..." It's sad to think that all we do in the end will become a waste of time.  That's why it is important not to be consumed with what we can do or our skills/talents or abilities.  Because no matter what we do in this earth, we will never be satisfied.  You know why?  Because we are created a spirit and the things that will satisfy us are the ones feeding our spirit - God, Himself.  Our hard work or the "fun" in this world means nothing to us in the end because our true being is our spirit and we need God to satisfies us.  He is the Only One who can do so.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank You for this realization.  Yes, I admit, I have a lot of things I want.  I want to travel, I want new things, I want a business, an investment, and many more.  At times, I get jealous, frustrated and impatience to acquire these despite of all the blessings You have poured out on me.  But today, You made me realized that all these things may be good but it can never satisfy me because I am a spirit and You are the only satisfaction for me.  So Lord, I ask for more of You.  For what You can offer more than what my hands can do or this world can give me.  Because I know that only You can satisfy me completely.  In Jesus' Name, Amen!
